Description
Bucchake is Katta Kirifuda's childhood friend, introduced during Katta's early dueling adventures. Initially skilled in dueling during their youth, his obsession with idols led him to neglect the game and forget basic strategies, resulting in an exceptionally high loss rate. Throughout the Versus saga, he maintained a 100% loss record except for one victory against a possessed Yohdel, achieved through temporary psychic-link assistance.
He belongs to Katta's core friend group alongside Yohdel and Benchan, assisting Katta in learning dueling and competing in team tournaments like the regional "Triple Dash Victory Tournament" as part of Team Tensai Katta. During this era, he typically used premade decks provided to Katta. Training under Katsuzo Kirifuda honed his skills, yet defeats persisted against opponents like Mimi and Shachihoko. His Victory-era deck focused on Nature Civilization cards, particularly Hunter race strategies.
Persuaded by Katta during secondary school in the Versus era, he resumed dueling with a modified Dragon deck. As a devoted fan of idol group Haraguro X—especially member Erika—he gained three idol cards during an exhibition match at their concert. These enabled new combinations and Dragsolution tactics, evolving his deck into a mono-Nature Civilization build centered on Jurassic Command Dragons and Beast Folk. He incorporated shield-protection strategies and attack manipulation via cards like Chake's Spirit, though losses continued against foes including Gometh, Erito Erairo, and Lulu Takigawa.
At Duel Masters Land's opening in Versus Revolution, he lost his signature afro after falling into an underground city. Rescued, he engaged Benchan in a penalty duel with spicy ramen consequences for broken shields and lost. Later, enraged over a missed birthday celebration, he dueled Rambo, losing again but freeing Rambo's captives. His deck remained mono-Nature, integrating Revolutionary race cards like Snow Faerie Kaze.
In Versus Revolution Final, his afro regrew after being burned by Katta's Victory Mode. During Episode 4, he dueled Rokuro of the Rare Killers over an Erikatchu dispute, using his updated "Haraguro El Dorado of Captain Chake" Stejura Samuraikind deck. Defeated, Rokuro dismissed his rare card as unworthy of confiscation.
Seven years after Dormageddon X's defeat, he works as a television producer, displaying the most pronounced physical maturation among peers into a tall, handsome adult. He monitored Hokaben's baseball team interview broadcast before receiving Katta and Lulu's wedding invitation. Attending with Hokaben, he expressed surprise at their swift marriage and their three-year-old son Joe Kirifuda.
He consistently begins sentences with "Bucchake" (meaning "Frankly speaking..."), the origin of his name. His deck always utilizes Nature Civilization cards, adapting with new partners like Goromaru Horn Horn in Victory V3 and integrating thematic shifts such as idol concert cards.
