Description
Licht von Grannzreich is the fifth and youngest prince of the Kingdom of Grannzreich. He is fourteen years old and the last in line for the throne. He is well known throughout the palace and the city for his flashy, carefree persona, often seen surrounded by beautiful women and earning him the nickname the Playboy Prince. He displays a laid-back and childish personality, frequently wandering the city to socialize and flirt with girls, especially older women with more mature figures. Despite this outwardly frivolous behavior, Licht is actually clever and perceptive. He hides a fundamentally serious and thoughtful nature because he fears that if others saw him as ordinary or normal, he would lose the attention and identity he has cultivated. This duality is recognized early on by his royal tutor, Heine Wittgenstein, who suspects that Licht is far smarter than he pretends to be.

Licht’s motivations are rooted in a desire to prove himself as a capable member of the royal family, even as he cloaks his ambitions beneath a playful exterior. He feels overlooked at times and worries that his father, the king, views him as frivolous. His initial wariness of Heine—whom he addresses with the friendly suffix chan—shows a cautious and discerning side, as he is suspicious of anyone unknown entering the palace. However, as the story progresses, Licht begins to trust Heine and takes his studies more seriously, developing a genuine bond with his tutor.

In the broader story, Licht is one of the four younger princes whom Heine has been summoned to educate, alongside his older brothers Kai, Bruno, and Leonhard. Each prince has a distinct personality, and Licht’s role is often that of the seemingly unserious brother who nevertheless contributes clever observations and surprising depth. He maintains a close but competitive relationship with his brothers, and his interactions with them reveal his underlying loyalty and care.

A key detail of Licht’s character is his secret job at a café in the city. He initially took the position because his girlfriends admired waiters, but he grew to genuinely enjoy the work, particularly the craft of coffee preparation. He develops real dedication to his job and earns the respect of his coworkers, further illustrating that beneath his playboy image he is hardworking and capable. Through his experiences with Heine and his brothers, Licht gradually becomes more confident in his serious side, learning important lessons about responsibility, leadership, and the value of effort. He retains his cheerful charm but no longer hides his intelligence as strictly as before.

Licht’s notable abilities lie in his social acumen and perceptiveness. He can read people quickly and adapt his behavior to fit any social situation, which makes him an excellent conversationalist. He also shows talent in practical skills such as his café work, and his academic capabilities improve under Heine’s guidance. While he does not possess any physical combat prowess or magical abilities, his emotional intelligence and cleverness make him a valuable asset to his family. His development throughout the series is marked by an increasing willingness to embrace both his playful and his earnest sides, growing into a more well-rounded prince.
