Description
Sayo Hikawa, a first-year law student at Keiho Women's University, previously attended Hanasakigawa Girls' High School where she served on both the student council and disciplinary committee. She is the older twin sister of Hina Hikawa, a relationship fundamental to her development.

From childhood, Sayo felt inadequate compared to Hina, who consistently outperformed her in activities ranging from playground games to academic tests. This fostered a significant inferiority complex, leading Sayo to distance herself and eventually attempt to shut Hina out entirely. She even took up the guitar partly because it was an activity Hina wasn't pursuing.

Sayo exhibits a serious, meticulous, and somewhat cold demeanor. She rejects mediocrity or carelessness, maintaining high standards for herself and others. She speaks formally, typically using last names. Despite her stern exterior, she occasionally denies personal preferences like an affinity for fluffy animals or french fries. Her dislike of carrots originates from childhood: she habitually ate Hina's carrots to help her, resulting in reprimands for neglecting her own, though she eventually forgot the specific reason.

As Roselia's guitarist, Sayo diligently hones her craft seeking her distinct sound. Her commitment sometimes manifested as strictness toward bandmates, particularly regarding practice discipline. Over time, her interactions soften, showing increased kindness. She begins offering assistance more readily, such as providing guitar lessons to Touko despite initial hesitations about her teaching abilities.

Sayo's relationship with Hina undergoes significant reconciliation. She gradually repairs their bond, leading to warmer interactions and a willingness to understand her sister. This evolution culminates in near-admissions of treasuring Hina, contrasting earlier statements about having nothing to say regarding her. Her personal growth extends to new interests: she started regularly playing the tank class in Neo Fantasy Online after initially denying involvement and developed an interest in baking, often seeking guidance from Lisa.

After high school, Sayo pursued a driver's license. Her hobbies include reading music magazines, sometimes carrying multiple issues, practicing archery, and she maintains a preference for dogs over cats.

Sayo appears in the chibi-style spin-off series, participating in the comedic antics of bands at CiRCLE alongside groups like Poppin'Party, Afterglow, Pastel*Palettes, Roselia, Hello, Happy World!, Morfonica, and RAISE A SUILEN. Her design was adapted for crossovers, resembling Ram in the Re:Zero collaboration and Makima in the Chainsaw Man collaboration.

Her name reflects her character: "Sayo" (紗夜) incorporates "Yo" (夜) meaning "night," contrasting with Hina’s name containing the kanji for "day" (日), underscoring their differing personalities.
