Description
Misaki Okusawa is a third-year student at Hanasakigawa Girls' Academy. Her bandmates in Hello, Happy World! know her only as the pink bear mascot Michelle, an identity stemming from her part-time job wearing the costume. Tsurumaki Kokoro recruited her into the band despite Misaki's initial reluctance and lack of interest. Over time, she finds fulfillment as the band's DJ.
Pragmatic and socially awkward, Misaki stands as the most grounded member. She often counters the eccentric behaviors of Kokoro, Hagumi, and Kaoru – whom she privately calls "sanbaka" (The Three Idiots) – with rational comments, serving as the group's "straight man." Her remarks are frequently ignored or misunderstood. Her responses blend compassion and sarcasm, though her intentions remain caring. She shares a particularly strong bond with Kanon Matsubara, seeing her as the only other member with a similar measured perspective.
Despite repeatedly telling her bandmates she and Michelle are the same person, only Kanon believes her. Misaki starts annoyed by their disbelief but eventually grows accustomed to it. She maintains a relaxed demeanor, preferring to avoid conflict and conceding to situations, as seen in her acceptance of the band role.
Outside the band, Misaki has played tennis since middle school, noting her Michelle performance strengthened her smashes. She is also a skilled dancer and sewer, capable of independently repairing the Michelle costume. Her hobbies include making felt dolls for her younger sister, and she enjoys drinking coffee. She dislikes coriander but favors family-style dishes.
In the spin-off *Garupa Pico* series, her dual identity leads to comedic situations. Kokoro's family builds "Michelle Land," an amusement park based on Misaki's improvised description of where Michelle lives. During the opening, Misaki (as Michelle) gets lost among identical mascots, and another Michelle impersonator departs with the unsuspecting band.
Misaki has two younger siblings, a brother and a sister. Her character color shifted from red-violet in *Girls Band Party!* Season 1 to teal in Season 2. In cross-media appearances, like the *Ojamajo Doremi* collaboration, her design adapted to resemble Harukaze Doremi.
