Saaya Yamabuki is a third-year student at Hanasakigawa Girls' High School and the drummer for the band Poppin'Party. She became close friends with her classmate Kasumi Toyama on their first day of high school and has shared lunch with her every day since. Her family runs the Yamabuki Bakery, where she works part-time to help, even during the school term. She is the oldest of three children, with a younger brother named Jun and a younger sister named Sana. Before joining Poppin'Party, Saaya was a member of the band CHiSPA in middle school. She quit just before an important performance; in one telling, this was due to her father falling ill, while in another, she did not want to burden her bandmates and family. She later rediscovered her passion for music in high school with support from Kasumi and her mother, becoming the final member to join Poppin'Party. Generally kind, empathetic, and hardworking, Saaya is considered level-headed and mature. She often acts as an older sister figure within her friend group, ready to help others in difficult times. This kindness sometimes makes it hard for her to say no to requests. She is also good at dealing with children. Outside her band, she is friends with Tomoe, a fellow drummer and older sister figure, and with Moca, who calls herself the number one fan of Yamabuki Bakery. She also works a part-time job at the live house RiNG alongside Kasumi and Taki. Saaya has slanted royal blue eyes and long, curly, dusty brown hair, which she usually wears in a high ponytail tied with a ribbon. Her hairstyle includes spread-out bangs and shoulder-length curled forelocks. She initially wore long, flowing pale yellow pants and a white, frilly off-the-shoulder top. Her hobbies include collecting hair scrunchies, practicing drums with three drumsticks, enjoying romance movies and classic Cinderella stories, and watching baseball. After a certain event, she developed an interest in photography and often carries a camera. Animals generally dislike her, often biting, scratching, or running away when she tries to pet them. Her favorite foods are spaghetti with garlic and chili pepper, as well as cheese. She dislikes raw seafood.
