Description
Marina Tsukishima is a staff member at the live house CiRCLE and serves as an in-game navigation character in BanG Dream!. In her younger years, she played guitar in a five-member band that aspired to go professional. The group aimed to attract scouts and become the best, but they gradually lost their passion when they did not reach the level they wanted and began losing their audience. Recognizing that they were no longer having fun, the band broke up. During the breakup, they created a song titled HOPE, recorded it on a CD, and handed it out to friends and fans. Marina still sometimes hums this song while working, as it reminds her of the first time her band had genuinely enjoyed making music together in a long while. After the band dissolved, she kept her guitar backstage at CiRCLE and occasionally plays it.
Marina is described as a friendly, hardworking, and down-to-earth woman. She enjoys reading manga and dislikes horror or scary things. In terms of appearance, she has black hair cut into a bob that reaches her shoulders, with her fringe neatly brushed to the right, fair skin, and pink-toned brown eyes. Her typical outfit includes low-cut jeans, a white-and-blue horizontal-striped shirt, and a black cardigan. She stands at 157 centimeters tall.
Her primary motivation stems from her past experience: she understands the struggles and joys of being in a band, and she now channels that understanding into supporting the new generation of musicians who perform at CiRCLE. In the game's main story, she works alongside the player character to organize a multi-live event, bringing five bands together. She seldom appears in later event stories or band stories after the early chapters, but she remains a consistent presence as a guide and helper. In the anime series, she appears as a supporting character, often seen at CiRCLE assisting with live events.
Marina’s notable abilities include her experience as a guitarist and her knowledge of running a live house. She also has a special connection to the song HOPE, which she helped create. While her role is primarily supportive rather than central, she represents the perspective of an adult who once pursued music seriously and now finds fulfillment in nurturing the next wave of talent. Her development is subtle: she moves from a place of past disappointment to a quieter satisfaction in her work, occasionally revisiting her own musical roots by playing guitar behind the scenes.
