Description
Matsubara Kanon drums for the band Hello, Happy World!, recruited by Tsurumaki Kokoro. She attends Keiho Women's University as a first-year student in the Faculty of Letters, sharing an apartment with her close friend since middle school, Shirasagi Chisato. Kanon also works part-time at a fast-food restaurant alongside Maruyama Aya.

Her appearance features long, curly pale blue hair, typically worn loose except for a section pulled into a left-sided ponytail secured by a ribbon. Violet eyes and short, curled bangs complete her distinctive look. Kanon favors frilly, feminine fashion: light blue off-the-shoulder dresses in spring, fuzzy cream jackets over patterned dresses in winter, and baby pink T-shirts with gray checkered skirtalls in summer. A red heart necklace frequently accessorizes her outfits.

Extremely shy and nervous, Kanon easily becomes overwhelmed, often exclaiming "fuee" when flustered. She struggles with decisiveness and frequently spaces out while thinking about jellyfish. A poor sense of direction causes her to get lost even in familiar areas and struggle with public transportation, though she can locate cafes by scent. Her clumsiness leads to frequently breaking drumsticks during practice. Despite these traits, Kanon demonstrates responsibility and sensibility, acting as a grounding influence within Hello, Happy World! alongside Okusawa Misaki. She shows gradual growth in courage, initiating solo street performances and becoming more assertive over time.

Beyond the band, Kanon maintains significant relationships. Her longstanding friendship with Chisato includes shared living and mutual support. Within Hello, Happy World!, she balances the energetic personalities of Kokoro, Kitazawa Hagumi, and Seta Kaoru, who frequently locates her when lost. She participates in the Tea Ceremony Club with Wakamiya Eve. Her hobbies encompass jellyfish observation, cafe-hopping, creating felt dolls (a skill learned from Misaki), drawing, and cooking—often preparing meals for herself and Chisato. She dislikes mushrooms but enjoys sweets, cakes, coffee, and tea.

Additional trivia notes her younger brother, artistic talent cultivated since childhood, and resemblance to the fictional princess Nicolina of the Happinelle Kingdom. She has participated in crossover events, including a collaboration where her character was redesigned as a "Gentle Witch" for the *Ojamajo Doremi* franchise.
