Kanon Matsubara, a first-year Keiho Women’s University student and drummer of Hello, Happy World!, joined the band after Kokoro Tsurumaki’s enthusiastic recruitment. Shy and reserved, she struggles with nervousness, tearfully exclaiming “fuee” when flustered. Her chronic clumsiness includes a notoriously poor sense of direction, leading her to navigate by the scents of cafés and shops. Yet she steadily cultivates resilience, organizing solo street performances and embracing the band’s adventurous spirit—skydiving concerts included.
Sensitive yet responsible, Kanon grounds the band’s chaotic energy while daydreaming about jellyfish, creatures she reveres. Her gentle nature shines through her love for sweets, café-hopping, and cute trinkets. A skilled cook, she prepares meals for her middle school friend and roommate, Chisato Shirasagi, and works part-time at a fast-food restaurant with Aya Maruyama, quietly supporting those around her.
She collects intricate food-shaped erasers—melon soda floats, strawberry shortcakes—storing them unused in her pencil case to admire their craftsmanship. Occasionally, she gifts these treasures, like the croquette eraser she gave Hagumi Kitazawa. Artistic pursuits anchor her: childhood drawing sessions with her brother, crafting felt dolls under Misaki Okusawa’s guidance.
Gradual growth marks Kanon’s journey. Once hesitant, she now initiates solo performances and dives into the band’s whimsical schemes—birthday concerts, chaotic meetings. Kokoro’s optimism and Hagumi’s encouragement fuel her rising confidence, letting her contribute more boldly to their mission of spreading joy.
Her background includes a younger brother, high school shifts at her family’s butcher shop, and crossover costume appearances resembling *Ojamajo Doremi*’s Senoo Aiko and *Re:Zero*’s Elsa Granhiert in non-canon events.
