Movie
Description
Misao Kurusu is a Sphinx-type Festum, an alien life form possessing a rare independent consciousness and a wise yet childlike nature. He emerges from an unmanned submarine arriving at Tatsumiya Island in the film Heaven and Earth. Sent by Soushi Minashiro, he seeks to broker peace between humans and Festum. Initial interactions reveal his confusion regarding human suffering and emotions, especially when witnessing the islanders' pain during Festum attacks. He forms a connection with Kazuki Makabe, who helps him comprehend human experiences and Soushi's intentions. During a critical battle, he sacrifices himself as a shield against a Human Army bombing attack, protecting the island and nearby Festum, his final words expressing wonder at the sky's beauty.

Reincarnated as a Core-type Festum in the sequel Exodus, Misao retains his memories and personality. He actively participates in human-Festum alliances, assisting an expeditionary force during a Human Army attack. He again expresses admiration for the sky's beauty and aids combat by deploying his swarm to destroy bombs and enemy units. He develops bonds with humans, particularly Miwa Hino, promising to help achieve global peace in exchange for future assimilation. His dialogue with Miwa emphasizes mutual understanding as a prerequisite for assimilation.

During the Fifth Operation Azure in The Beyond, Misao pilots the Mark Dreizehn Kai, codenamed Chronos. He demonstrates tactical prowess by breaking through enemy barriers and utilizing his Super Dimensional Power (SDP) to evade attacks. Confronted by the hostile Specter, he summons his swarm and warns allies about the urgency of rescuing Soushi Minashiro. He later observes Kazuki's deteriorating humanity, noting the potential loss of his "heart" despite physical persistence. In subsequent battles, he attacks the crystallized false island and engages Festum swarms, including Serenoa's forces, while noting the approach of the Maris Excelsior carrying the captured Grimreaper. His actions consistently reflect loyalty to allies and commitment to coexistence.
