Description
Soushi Minashiro, son of Alvis commander Kōzō Minashiro, grew up isolated beneath Tatsumiyajima Island, groomed to succeed his father and burdened by the knowledge of Earth's invasion by aliens called Festum, who destroyed Japan decades prior. This isolation fostered social awkwardness, rendering him unapproachable to peers. A childhood accident left Soushi with a scar across his left eye, impairing his vision and disqualifying him from piloting a Fafner mecha. Despite the accident involving his friend Kazuki Makabe, Soushi bore no ill will, maintaining a close yet complex bond with him.
Initially serving as Alvis's battle commander, Soushi operated the Siegfried System, a computer interface enabling direct mental connection with Fafner pilots during combat. He guided pilots, particularly Kazuki, emphasizing calm and rationality to stabilize them. His leadership proved pivotal during early Festum attacks on Tatsumiyajima, including convincing Kazuki to pilot the Mark Elf after the first pilot's death. Soushi also had a younger sister, Tsubaki Minashiro, who functioned as the island's core, powering its systems.
As conflicts escalated, Soushi transitioned from operator to piloting the Salvator-model Fafner Mark Nicht. During the Fourth Operation Azure, he was assimilated by Festum, disappearing into their collective consciousness. His final act involved leaving a voice message inside Mark Nicht. After assimilation, Soushi was reborn as a reincarnation lacking his predecessor's eye scar but retaining a similar appearance, including a ponytail. This reincarnated Soushi was found by Kazuki and others within Mark Nicht's cockpit, surrounded by crystals. Initially childlike and curious about the world beyond the sea, he resided on Tatsumiyajima for two years before being relocated to a rocket during an evacuation.
Three years later, the reincarnated Soushi appeared as a teenager on an island resembling Tatsumiyajima. He exhibited persistent curiosity about the outside world, secretly using a radio to contact an unknown entity despite warnings. This led to an encounter with a figure linked to his dreams, culminating in a festival confrontation where Festum impostors attacked. Soushi escaped with Kazuki, witnessing the destruction of a Festum mimicking Tsubaki. Traumatized by this event, he vowed to kill Kazuki.
Soushi's relationship with Kazuki remained central throughout his existence, marked by mutual dependence with Kazuki as his emotional anchor. Original Soushi's assimilation devastated Kazuki, who repeatedly vowed to reunite with him beyond life and death. In *The Beyond*, original Soushi's spectral form briefly embraced his reincarnation, transferring his scar before vanishing. The reincarnated Soushi later learned of Kazuki's role in his past, fueling his antagonism.
