Description
Ryūbi Gentoku, true name Tōka, reigns as Queen of Shoku Kingdom. Descended from noble lineage, she inherited the sacred family sword Emperor Jing's Heirloom. Her identity and blade were stolen by an impersonator, causing public disgrace. Seeking redemption, she journeyed to reclaim the sword, surviving repeated bandit attacks until rescued by Kan'u's group, after which she traveled under their protection.

Tōka embodies kindness, benevolence, and pacifism, prioritizing compassion and diplomacy over warfare. Driven by ideals of justice and peace, she consistently seeks reasoned solutions over force. Despite her queenship, she remains often naive, indecisive, and clumsy in political and military strategy, disliking paperwork and formal duties enough to require reminders from subordinates like Kan'u. Her charisma flows from genuine concern for others, attracting followers through empathy rather than authority. She occasionally reveals unexpected insight and fierce determination, especially when confronting civilian suffering.

Her quest centered on recovering the stolen heirloom. Her childhood friend Kousonsan Hakukei (recalled only as "Pai Pai") had pawned it to Enshou for supplies; Enjutsu later obtained it through deception. Koumei's cleverness secured its return, but Tōka later sacrificed it as a lightning rod to destroy a boulder menacing a village. This selfless act marked her evolution from seeking personal redemption to embracing sacrificial leadership. Grateful villagers gave her a new sword, perceived as the original's divine transformation.

Tōka forged a sisterhood vow with Kan'u and Chouhi, becoming eldest sister despite Chouhi's initial resistance, solidifying their faction's unity. In subsequent conflicts, she reluctantly attacked the Gi faction to shield Shoku after Sousou permitted their retreat but threatened future invasion. Her commitment to non-violence conflicted with Sousou's tactics, resulting in strategic setbacks when he regained composure during a siege.

Beyond warfare, she finds joy in weaving straw mats and ardently follows the Three Chou Sisters' performances. A recurring comedic thread involves her weight gain from loving food, causing her distress. Modern-era OVAs depict her adapting to student life or island castaway scenarios, where cat-like characters nickname her "Shigiri." Her minimal combat ability is consistently contrasted with her leadership strengths.
