Description
Chiyu Tamade, known by her stage name CHU², is the producer, DJ, and leader of the band RAISE A SUILEN. A returnee student attending the international school Celosia Girls Academy, Chiyu is notably young for her grade level. Despite being only fourteen years old, she has skipped multiple grades due to her exceptional academic performance, placing her in classes with older students. She comes from a deeply musical family; her mother is a world-renowned violinist working overseas. Unlike many of her peers who practice in garages or live houses, Chiyu lives alone in a luxurious penthouse apartment, where the band also holds its rehearsals and recordings.

Chiyu's personality is defined by a striking contradiction between her immense professional pride and her occasional childish outbursts. She is fiercely confident in her own abilities as a producer and composer, and she presents herself with an assertive and sometimes arrogant demeanor. She is a staunch believer in professionalism and expects the same level of dedication from others, yet she has admitted to struggling with controlling her emotions and finding the right words in stressful situations. This can lead to moments where she yells at her bandmates or rivals, only to later fall into a state of depression or regret over her own behavior. Despite this fiery exterior, she is not rude and adheres to a certain code of conduct, as demonstrated when she once angrily kicked over a trash can only to immediately pick up the spilled contents and put it right again. Her solitary life before forming the band also contributed to a sense of loneliness, and although she rarely admits it, she genuinely cherishes the new experiences and camaraderie she shares with the members of RAISE A SUILEN.

The primary motivation driving Chiyu is a deep-seated desire to earn genuine recognition from her mother. As a child, she studied piano and violin but realized she lacked the innate talent to reach her mother's legendary level. While Chiyu saw her failures as a lack of achievement, her mother responded only with praise for her effort, which Chiyu interpreted as meaningless consolation prizes or vanity. This rejection of what she calls a "participation award" fuels her ambition. She returned to Japan determined to create the strongest band and produce the most powerful music in the world, believing that tangible success will finally force her mother to acknowledge her talents without pity. This drive initially manifested as a desire to recruit existing strong bands, specifically Roselia, to play her compositions. After being repeatedly rejected by Roselia's vocalist, Yukina, who insisted on playing only their own music, Chiyu's goal shifted. She resolved to crush Roselia and Poppin'Party by assembling her own band from scratch to prove that her production skills and musical vision were superior.

Within the story, Chiyu serves as the mastermind and producer of RAISE A SUILEN. She is responsible for composing the band's music, writing lyrics, and overseeing their overall creative direction. Her role is unique as she is not a traditional instrumentalist; she composes using DTM (Desktop Music) on a computer. Her role in the narrative is largely focused on the formation of the band, where she uses her sharp eye for talent to recruit each member. She scouted the keyboardist PAREO by recognizing her passion and resilience, the bassist and vocalist LAYER for her powerful voice, and the drummer MASKING for her raw, untamed energy. These relationships are critical to her development. While she acts as their strict boss, she also genuinely cares for their well-being and trusts them implicitly. Her relationship with Yukina of Roselia is a key driving force, functioning as a "professional rival" that pushes her to strive for the top, even if Yukina does not initially share the same combative feelings. Over time, Chiyu moves from a place of wanting to destroy other bands to developing a mutual respect with them.

Notable abilities include her extraordinary skill as a music producer and composer using digital audio workstations, a method known as DTM. She is a perfectionist who performs rigorous testing on her equipment, famously running a 100-hour burn-in test on her signature cat-ear headphones to ensure the best audio quality. Her lecture on sound editing and arrangement was enough to impress even skilled musicians. However, her abilities are countered by distinct weaknesses. She is physically weak with very poor stamina and is jokingly referred to as a "dry land swimmer" due to her inability to swim. She also has eccentric tastes, famously subsisting almost entirely on her favorite food, beef jerky, while avoiding salads and even disliking baths in favor of showers. She mixes English into her Japanese speech frequently, a habit reflecting her international school background.
