Risa Tsumugi is a Japanese voice actress, DJ, rapper, and singer born on July 5, 1996. Originally from Okinawa Prefecture, she spent part of her childhood attending an international school, which gave her fluency in English. She became interested in voice acting as a middle school student and, after studying law at university, successfully auditioned for a talent agency, beginning her career in 2018.

Tsumugi's career is closely linked with several of Bushiroad's multimedia franchises. Her breakout role came in 2018 when she was cast as Chiyu Tamade, also known as CHU², for the BanG Dream! project. She became the DJ for the franchise's real-life and in-universe band, Raise A Suilen, a role for which she had no prior experience. Her character, CHU², was created with input from Tsumugi, incorporating similarities such as the character's bilingualism, which became a notable feature in the band's music and contributed to the franchise's international appeal. She has voiced this character across multiple anime seasons, films, and stage productions, including BanG Dream! 2nd Season, BanG Dream! Film Live 2nd Stage, and the stage play We are Raise A Suilen: BanG Dream! The Stage.

In 2019, Tsumugi joined another Bushiroad franchise, D4DJ, as Saki Izumo, a member of the unit Photon Maiden. As her character is also a DJ, she has noted that the role allowed her to rediscover her appreciation for DJing. She has voiced Saki Izumo in the anime D4DJ First Mix, its sequel D4DJ Double Mix, and the game D4DJ Groovy Mix, as well as in related variety programs. Her early career also includes the role of Fina in the 2019 anime series Bermuda Triangle: Colorful Pastrale.

Beyond these major franchises, Tsumugi has built a diverse filmography. In 2020, she began voicing Tazusa Andō in the mixed-media project Assault Lily, appearing in the anime Assault Lily Bouquet and subsequent stage adaptations. She has also taken on roles in video games, such as Rui Akikaze in Shōjo Kageki Revue Starlight: Re Live, Leben Distel in Crymachina, and Locusta in Fate/Grand Order. Her work extends to other anime, with credits including Ring-Ring in One-Punch Man 2, Yamapi in AMAIM: Warrior at the Borderline UltraSteel Ogre-Gear, and roles in Blue Archive the Animation and This Monster Wants to Eat Me.

In addition to her voice acting, Tsumugi is also a performer on stage and a personality in variety programming, hosting shows like Radio RIOT and D4DJ Photon Maiden TV. As of 2024, she is affiliated with the agency mitt management.
