Description
Doppo Kannonzaka, also known by his MC name DOPPO, is a 29-year-old employee of the medical device manufacturer E.L. Medical Co., where he works as a sales representative. Standing 175 centimeters tall with O-type blood, he lives in the Shinjuku division of the Hypnosis Mic universe. His physical appearance is marked by messy red hair with teal or blue-green undertones, blue eyes that are often accompanied by notable dark circles due to exhaustion, and a standard dark gray office suit with a white pinstripe shirt, black shoes, a green trellis-patterned tie, and a red lanyard.

Doppo's personality is defined by an extremely pessimistic and cynical worldview. He is a self-described ordinary person who feels he has no remarkable characteristics, and this belief fuels a habit of thinking about everything in a negative light. He tends to blame himself for misfortunes, gets lost in self-deprecating thoughts, and is known for muttering to himself and over-apologizing, even when situations are not his fault. This anxious and socially awkward demeanor often makes him appear as a pushover to others. Despite his meek exterior, he is fundamentally kind, supportive, and reliable, always willing to defend those close to him. The harsh conditions at his workplace, where he is overworked and frequently berated by his boss, have taken a significant toll on his mental health, causing him to bottle up frustration until it reaches a breaking point. When this happens, his pent-up emotions explode in an uncontrollable and irate outburst, forming the basis for his rap ability.

His primary motivation is simply to survive the demands of his daily life and maintain his few meaningful connections. He has very few friends due to his introverted personality, but he shares an extraordinarily long and deep bond with his only childhood friend, Hifumi Izanami. They have known each other since elementary school and currently share an apartment in Shinjuku. Despite the chaotic situations he often finds himself in because of Hifumi, he remains deeply grateful for his friendship. Doppo also has a younger brother and enjoys quiet, solitary hobbies such as sleeping, taking care of houseplants, and fishing. His favorite food is omurice, while he strongly dislikes cilantro, as well as his boss, exercise, and standing out in any way.

In the story, Doppo serves as a member of the Shinjuku team Matenro, alongside Hifumi and the doctor Jakurai Jinguji. Initially, he visited Jakurai for counseling to help cope with his deteriorating mental state from work. After Hifumi was targeted by a stalker, Doppo brought his friend to Jakurai for help, and following the resolution of that incident, Jakurai was so impressed by their skills that he invited them to form a team and participate in the Division Rap Battle. As a member of Matenro, Doppo often takes a supporting role, but he has proven to be a crucial asset in major battles. During the first Division Rap Battle, when Hifumi was taken out by the opposing team Mad Trigger Crew, Doppo snapped and unleashed his Berserker ability, neutralizing two opponents in an explosive offensive before being rendered helpless himself, allowing Matenro to ultimately win the championship. Following this victory, his situation at work improved temporarily, as more clients sought him out and his boss became kinder.

Doppo's role extends to confronting personal and professional crises. He was once wrongfully fired from his job due to a fabricated equipment malfunction complaint. With the help of his colleagues, he investigated the incident, confronted the responsible doctor with evidence, and was reinstated, marking a rare moment where he actively stood up for himself. He has also fought alongside other divisions when necessary, such as when he teamed up with Jiro Yamada of Buster Bros!!! to rescue a kidnapped child and fight against a common enemy.

His development is gradual but significant. While he remains a pessimist, moments of crisis reveal his hidden reservoir of inner strength and willingness to act decisively. His journey shows a tired salaryman learning that even within a life of exhaustion and frustration, he has the power to affect change and protect the people who matter to him, moving from a passive victim of his circumstances to an active, if reluctant, hero.

His notable ability, fittingly named Berserker, is a double-edged sword. When activated, he becomes uncontrollable and gains explosive offensive power in exchange for completely depleting his energy, which neutralizes him shortly after. His Hypnosis Mic takes the form of a flip phone, and his speakers manifest as a turntable inside a briefcase alongside multiple monitors surrounded by flying pills and papers. His signature quote, "The real world is much smaller than the imaginary," is derived from Friedrich Nietzsche's book The Dawn of Day, reflecting his belief that imagination offers a larger, more bearable space than the harsh realities of his daily existence.
