Description
Tenkei Iwafune, once known as Seigo Ootori, served as the Sixth Gray King and leader of Cathedral, dedicated to shielding the vulnerable and establishing a sanctuary through his clan. His aspirations crumbled during the Kagutsu Crater catastrophe, triggered by another monarch’s Damocles Down, which claimed 700,000 lives and obliterated Cathedral. As the lone survivor, he renounced his former identity, declaring Seigo Ootori deceased, and embraced the name Tenkei Iwafune—a testament to his fractured ideals.

Amidst the aftermath, he discovered Nagare Hisui, a mortally wounded boy sustained by his awakening as the Green King. This encounter reshaped Tenkei’s perspective on power; he now believed universal access to such strength could avert future tragedies, aligning with Nagare’s mission to harness the Dresden Slate for humanity’s empowerment. Their alliance solidified with Tenkei adopting a paternal role within Nagare’s organization, JUNGLE, where he managed daily operations and guided younger members like Sukuna Gojo.

The Kagutsu disaster transformed Tenkei from a pacifist into a pragmatist who would eliminate any obstacle, regardless of age, to achieve his ends. Though cloaked in cynicism and self-ridiculing remarks about his cowardice, he demonstrated unwavering loyalty to Nagare, driven by remorse over his past failures and a determination to spare others similar suffering. Their dynamic often juxtaposed Tenkei’s harm-reduction ethos against Nagare’s aspirations to surpass human limitations.

During JUNGLE’s assault on Mihashira Tower, Tenkei deployed his Gray Aura to envelop the battlefield in disorienting fog, enabling Nagare’s confrontation with rival kings despite privately doubting their strategy’s recklessness. Following Nagare’s demise after the Slate’s destruction, Tenkei chose to share his fate, their deaths intertwining as symbols of mutual regret and intertwined destinies.

Tenkei’s journey from idealistic king to disillusioned strategist epitomized themes of accountability and atonement. Though his story ended in acknowledging defeat, his legacy endured through Nagare’s vision and the ongoing struggle over the Slate’s role in shaping humanity’s evolution.
