Description
Jinpei Jiba is the main protagonist of the Y School Heroes series and a minor character in Yo-kai Watch 4. He is the human reincarnation of Jibanyan, who died defending against an alien invasion before Jinpei's birth. His birthdate, July 28th, reflects his surname, as "2" and "8" are pronounced "Jiba" in Japanese. Jinpei's mother, Miho Jiba, died while pregnant saving a child from a falling traffic light, mirroring Jibanyan's sacrifice to save Amy—later revealed as Jinpei's grandmother.

He has distinctive red hair styled like cat ears, echoing his past life as Jibanyan, and an ahoge. Jinpei wears the red-schemed Y-Academy uniform and uses an earpiece for club communication. His personality blends a strong sense of justice with quirks like obliviousness to romantic advances and spontaneously rapping misunderstood phrases. Despite a childish demeanor, he fiercely protects his friends.

Jinpei wields innate Yo-kai Special Power (YSP), enabling high-focus jumps and fire-enhanced punches. His primary power channel is the YSP Watch (upgraded to UR Watch and Majin Watch), allowing transformations into Yo-kai Heroes by merging with partners: Kengo Benimaru (with Wampus/Bakera), Wild Boy (with Goromi), Blue Moon (with Bluepon), and Earth Walker (with Mikettio). Training under Zazel and fusing with allies like Little Kommander Ace evolves these into advanced forms such as Earth Walker NOA, Earth Walker NOA Armored, Black Cat, and Shikkokumaru.

Key relationships shape his journey. His best friend is Sandayu Koma, a fellow reincarnation (originally Komasan), sharing a childhood bond. The YSP Club includes Mataro Tamada (later gaining powers), Mera Raido (reincarnated Blazion), and Fubuki Himekawa (reincarnated Blizzaria). He partners with Yo-kai/Onryo like Momo ("Fat Rat") and Mikettio (his definitive partner), alongside antagonistic-turned-ally figures such as teacher Haruhiko Usumizawa.

His story spans multiple media. In Yo-kai Watch 4, he accidentally traverses worlds, collaborating with Nate Adams to retrieve his earpiece and battle Shadow Venoct. The anime confirms his familial link to Amy. Throughout conflicts—including Onryo incidents and the N-Kind alien invasion—he matures while protecting Y-Academy, ultimately helping defeat entities like Mazera through unified efforts. His signature rap habit began in childhood after witnessing Christmas performers.
