Description
Meiko Nanao, universally nicknamed "Chibi" for her notably short stature and petite build compared to her volleyball teammates, becomes the protagonist's first close friend upon arriving at Hikawa Junior High School.
As the setter for the girls' volleyball team, Chibi coordinates attacks and delivers passes, recognized within the narrative as the team's most proficient setter during her tenure.
She demonstrates consistent loyalty and steadfast kindness towards the protagonist, especially during the protagonist's initial struggles to integrate into the team and clashes with other players, forming one of the protagonist's earliest meaningful connections in Tokyo.
Following approximately the first quarter of the series (after episode 17), Chibi's active participation in the central narrative significantly decreases. Her subsequent appearances become sporadic, limited primarily to brief flashbacks, other characters' recollections of middle school events, or occasional dialogue mentions recalling the protagonist's past experiences. Her direct involvement in volleyball plotlines and character interactions reduces considerably as the story progresses beyond middle school, focusing more on professional and national team activities.
