Movie
Description
Ryūsuke Kyūbi attends Y-Academy as a second-year performing arts student and leads the Tennis Club. His appearance features long lavender-white hair flaring into nine fox-tail tips, yellow eyes with red markings, and a consistent outfit of a blue jacket with jeans over a purple sweater and white V-neck T-shirt.
He exists as the human reincarnation of the Yo-kai Kyubi, living with a human family and two pets unlike his original counterpart. His YSP Watch Zero enables transformations: Ninetail through fusion with the Yo-kai Izuna, and Yami Ninetail when near an unknown Onryo. The Majin Watch additionally allows transformation into Tengu the Nine near Tengu.
Ninetail manifests as a nine-tailed fox humanoid Yo-kai Hero wielding the Elegant Rapier, specializing in graceful combat over brute force. This form displays a light purple and white fox head with yellow pupils, black sclera, and a white Venetian domino mask, clad in a white tailcoat with royal purple lining, strapped arm sleeves, a black-and-red bodysuit, and thigh-length boots. An advanced Y-Kakusei evolution enhances Ninetail's elegance and power.
Key relationships include persistent romantic interest in teacher Natsuki Enra, often fantasizing about her as a recurring gag. He shows protective loyalty toward Izuna, essential for his Ninetail transformation, frequently exclaiming "Izuna, I need you!" during crises. Within the YSP Club, he collaborates with Jinpei Jiba and Mera Raido to investigate supernatural school mysteries despite initial conflicts like accusations of cursing female students.
Across the anime and Y School Heroes Movie, he combats academy curses. Early scenes show him becoming Ninetail to repel accusations and fight antagonists like Jinpei and Mera. He later aids the YSP Club in resolving supernatural incidents, including efforts to lift a student curse. Narrative arcs delve into personal trauma, confronting revelations like "This house and my family are all fake!" and expressing regret over familial manipulation.
Game appearances include being playable in Y School Heroes: Bustlin' School Life. In Yo-kai Watch: Wibble Wobble, his human form (Rank S, Mysterious tribe) and Ninetail form (Rank SSS, Mysterious tribe) are playable. Ninetail's Soultimate move "Purple Dance" eliminates targets diagonally, while Y-Kakusei Ninetail uses "Revolutionary Fleury" for rapid Wib Wob erasure.
Trivia notes his favorite food as Fluffy Rice Omelettes, being the sole Y School Hero retaining his original Yo-kai name, and a running gag of feigning injury with exaggerated childlike speech to attract Miss Enra’s attention.
