Description
Helios is a dragon-like Bakugan and the Guardian Bakugan of Spectra Phantom, first introduced as a primary antagonist in Bakugan Battle Brawlers: New Vestroia. Initially presented as a cruel and mean-spirited creature, Helios is defined by an unrelenting, obsessive desire to become the Ultimate Bakugan, viewing any other being, particularly Drago, as an obstacle to that goal. His cruelty is demonstrated early on when he is responsible for capturing the Bakugan Blade Tigrerra, using this act to taunt his rivals.
Helios's primary motivation throughout much of the series is the pursuit of absolute power. This drive is so intense that he willingly volunteers to undergo a painful and unnatural transformation, allowing much of his organic body to be replaced with mechanical parts to become a Cyborg Bakugan. This decision is made using battle data collected from Drago, highlighting his relentless and calculating nature. His role in the story is that of a deadly and ferocious rival to Drago, serving as the main enforcer for the Vexos organization and a direct threat to the Resistance brawlers. He is known for his aggressive battle style and a tendency to taunt his opponents, trying to provoke them into using their full power.
Key relationships define his character arc. His bond with his partner, Spectra Phantom, is central, as they share the singular goal of creating the ultimate fighting being. He continues to be battle-focused, however, and has little patience for frivolous behavior. His evolution concludes in Bakugan Mechtanium Surge, where he has become a Darkus attribute Bakugan named Infinity Helios, now fighting as a hero to protect others and even fusing with Drago to defeat powerful threats.
Notable abilities are a hallmark of Helios's character. As a Pyrus Bakugan, his early signature move is "General Quasar," a powerful fireball attack. Upon becoming Cyborg Helios and later Helios MK2, his arsenal expands dramatically with integrated weaponry. His most famous and formidable ability is the "Fully Automatic Reaction Battle System," or FARBAS. This system allows him to repair all damage to his body, nullify an opponent's abilities, and temporarily raise his power level to match or exceed that of his opponent. Other powerful techniques include the "Ragnarök Cannon," a devastating chest laser, and the "Dragon Pincer," where his mechanical arm detaches to attack. He can also combine with support units to form Maxus Helios MK2 and is later equipped with powerful Battle Gear such as the Twin Destructor and the even more potent Zukanator, the latter of which was powerful enough to blast a hole through the Alternative Weapon System.
