Description
Yuko Yoshikawa plays trumpet in the Kitauji High School Concert Band and ascends to band president in her third year. Her appearance features shoulder-length dirty-blond hair with square bangs, light-bluish-green eyes, and a frequent pale-yellow bow headband, contributing to her youthful look.

She exhibits a bright, bold personality, speaking her mind directly with strong determination and confidence. This assertiveness coexists with emotional reactivity, as unexpected situations easily annoy or anger her. Aware of these flaws, she prioritizes the band’s success over her pride and strives for self-improvement. Her loyalty manifests intensely; she deeply values those she cares about and champions their well-being, occasionally making mistakes but also taking principled stands. Conversely, she directs sharp criticism toward individuals she dislikes or perceives as threats to her friends.

Her background includes serving as trumpet section leader in Minami Middle School’s elite band. A devastating loss at the Kyoto tournament there cemented her belief in hard work. At Kitauji High, she nearly quit the band during her first year when classmates departed, but inspiration from Kaori Nakaseko—whom she greatly admires—made her stay. Yuko co-founded the "Kaori Fan Club" with fellow trumpeter Tomoe Kabe, reflecting her devotion.

During her second year, Yuko fiercely opposed Reina Kousaka earning a key trumpet solo over Kaori, confronting both Reina and band advisor Noboru Taki over perceived bias. After witnessing Kaori’s graceful concession and Reina’s skill, Yuko accepted the outcome and later developed respect for Reina. She supported Kaori through this challenge while working to sustain band morale.

As third-year president, Yuko focused on unifying the large ensemble toward winning gold at nationals. She sometimes struggled to ask for help, attempting to shoulder responsibilities alone. Her leadership involved mentoring juniors like Tomoe and mediating conflicts. She played a pivotal role supporting Mizore Yoroizuka during Mizore’s strained relationship with Nozomi Kasaki. When Mizore fled from Nozomi, Yuko intervened, recruiting Kumiko Oumae to help locate her. Yuko found Mizore hiding behind a table, confronted her about the issues with Nozomi, and cried with her over misunderstood relationships, witnessing their reconciliation. Natsuki Nakagawa later teased Yuko but acknowledged her role in resolving the situation.

Yuko maintained a close, bickering friendship with Natsuki throughout high school. Post-graduation, she attended college with Natsuki and Nozomi, formed a girls' band where she played guitar and sang, and occasionally returned to support Kitauji’s band. Her dream persisted to play music professionally.
