Description
Mikoto Suoh, born August 13, 1988, was raised by his grandfather following the loss of his parents. A month after the Kagutsu Crater Incident, his grandfather brought him to the submerged site where he briefly encountered a boy in a large straw hat.
In high school, he forged a lasting friendship with Izumo Kusanagi, regularly spending significant time at Kusanagi's bar, HOMRA. Around this period, Mikoto also met Tatara Totsuka after Totsuka crashed his bicycle into him. Mikoto and Kusanagi later visited Totsuka in the hospital after an assault, though Mikoto left abruptly during the visit.
At age 18, Mikoto became the Red King during a confrontation with the dangerous Strain "Earless Mitsuha," who sought the Red King's power. Thrown through a window, Mikoto connected with the Dresden Slate and awakened. He immediately offered Kusanagi and Totsuka positions as his first clansmen, formally establishing the Red Clan, HOMRA.
Mikoto stood 185 cm tall with red hair, amber eyes, and a muscular build. His appearance featured light creases under his eyes, spiked hair with face-framing strands, and sideburns. He typically wore a black leather jacket with a fur collar, a white V-neck shirt, denim jeans, and silver jewelry including a star-shaped necklace and an ear piercing that once belonged to Totsuka.
Personality-wise, Mikoto displayed a lazy, quiet demeanor, often sleeping deeply and quickly. Despite this, he was considered the most volatile King, with a history of violent youthful outbursts. He maintained bad manners, like complaining about food while eating it entirely. Though initially indifferent to his title, he deeply cared for his clansmen. After Totsuka's death, he grew more withdrawn yet remained protective of HOMRA. An avid smoker since his early twenties, he showed particular paternal gentleness toward the young Strain Anna Kushina, who relied on him emotionally.
Mikoto led passively, granting HOMRA members autonomy. Totsuka's murder became a catalyst for his development. Consumed by vengeance, he deliberately allowed his Weismann level to rise, accepting the risk of his Sword of Damocles falling and causing catastrophic destruction. This pursuit marked his first embrace of kingship responsibilities. Temporarily detained by SCEPTER 4 to prevent destabilization, he escaped after a taunting call from Totsuka's killer. His final confrontation with Blue King Reisi Munakata ended with Munakata killing him to avert a Damocles Down event, fulfilling Mikoto's implicit wish to die protecting his clan.
Following his death, HOMRA fragmented. Anna Kushina, his mentee, became the new Red King. During a crisis vision, Mikoto appeared to Anna, acknowledging he could no longer "show her that beautiful red" but affirming her inner strength. His legacy persisted through Anna's ascension and HOMRA's resurgence under her leadership. The burden of killing Mikoto caused a crack in Munakata's Sword of Damocles, symbolizing the enduring weight of Mikoto's choices.
