Description
Felicia is a cat-like Darkstalker, a hybrid of human and feline traits, raised from infancy by the human nun Sister Rose at an orphanage. Sister Rose named her "Felicia," derived from "felicity," symbolizing happiness. Discovering her true nature as a Darkstalker at age six caused fear and isolation among humans, but Sister Rose accepted her unconditionally. After Sister Rose's death, Felicia left the orphanage to pursue her dream of becoming a musical star, believing fame could help overcome human prejudice against Darkstalkers and foster peaceful coexistence. Despite facing significant discrimination during her travels, she maintained an optimistic and determined outlook, guided by Sister Rose's teaching that individuals must seize their own happiness.
During her journey, Felicia befriended several other catgirls: Alto, a shy 10-year-old escapee from a wealthy family; Grace, a 24-year-old from Utah with transformation abilities; Lucy, an 18-year-old former cynical circus performer; the 11-year-old twins Nana and Mimi; Nonno; and Piko, a curious 7-year-old who sought her out after seeing her stage show. Together, they formed a musical troupe. Felicia, scouted by a talent agent, became the main star. Her success on stage partially realized her goal, as her positive demeanor made some humans more tolerant of Darkstalkers.
In later events, particularly during the Devil dimension conflict in "Vampire Savior," Felicia reflected on extending happiness to those feeling isolated, leading her to establish the orphanage "Felicity House." There, she worked as a caretaker and "musical sister," honoring Sister Rose's legacy. As a nun, she continued advocating for mutual understanding between humans and Darkstalkers, using her experiences to guide the children.
Felicia possesses a highly energetic, cheerful, and altruistic personality. She enjoys singing, dancing, and forming friendships, avoiding violence unless absolutely necessary. Her unwavering kindness and optimism distinguish her from many morally ambiguous Darkstalkers. She deeply loves humans for their open-mindedness and tirelessly works to build trust with those accepting Darkstalkers.
Her physical abilities include exceptional agility, speed, and reflexes, ranking her among the fastest in her universe. She employs acrobatic maneuvers like flips, wall jumps, and rapid lunges, with attacks primarily involving sharp claw strikes. While not the strongest physically, she can lift humans and heavy objects. She possesses a minor ability to transform into a cat. Combat techniques include the "Rolling Buckler" (spinning ball attack), "Rolling Scratch" (bouncing multi-hit move), "Sand Splash" (projectile-negating kick), and "Delta Kick" (aerial diving attack). She also uses a multi-hit "Mighty Combo" in certain crossovers. Her body is covered in fur that preserves modesty, rendering clothing unnecessary.
In the "Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge" OVA adaptation, Felicia's origin diverges significantly. She is portrayed as a centuries-old shapeshifter wearing a cat costume, participating in battles against other Darkstalkers during Pyron's invasion. This version does not reference her orphanage background or musical career.
Beyond "Darkstalkers," Felicia appears in numerous fighting game crossovers and spin-offs. In these appearances, she retains her core traits and moves while adapting to different contexts—such as pursuing film acting opportunities or wearing alternate outfits like a nun habit or less-revealing dress. Her role typically reinforces her dream of uniting humans and Darkstalkers through performance, though the plots do not advance her main canon development.
