Description
Nanaka Kotegawa works as a diving instructor at her family's shop, Grand Blue, managing lessons and promotions while attracting attention through her appearance and professional role. She exhibits a gentle, nurturing demeanor daily, often acting motherly toward younger individuals like Iori Kitahara—cooking for him and expressing concern during his excessive partying. This contrasts with her near-obsessive fixation on her younger sister, Chisa Kotegawa. Nanaka engages in behaviors like burying her face in Chisa's clothing, drinking from her used glasses, and covering her room with Chisa's photos and posters.

Her protectiveness ignites extreme hostility, especially toward Iori when dating rumors about him and Chisa surface. During these moments, Nanaka shifts to an intimidating, violent demeanor, though Chisa remains unaware of these feelings. Despite such volatility, Nanaka maintains platonic affection for Iori, even stating she might accept him marrying Chisa under specific conditions. She shares a notably close bond with Azusa Hamaoka, confiding in her about worries like Iori's behavior under the diving club's influence.

Nanaka previously belonged to the university diving and drinking club "Peek a Boo" (PaB), participating in their rowdy activities, though she now observes more than engages. This past fuels her vigilance against the club's impact on others, particularly Iori. Family dynamics reveal a strained relationship between Chisa and their mother, Sayaka Kotegawa, though Nanaka shows more understanding toward Sayaka than Chisa does. Her relationship with father Toshio Kotegawa remains largely unexplored beyond their professional ties at Grand Blue.

Visually, she possesses a voluptuous figure and waist-length brown hair, often seen in casual dresses off-duty. Fan communities frequently spotlight her in adult-oriented artwork, contrasting her in-series modesty. A notable subplot involves a false rumor about Nanaka dating Chisa, provoking such a terrifying reaction from Nanaka that it cements others' caution about provoking her. Her character balances nurturing instincts with obsessive tendencies, rooted in protectiveness of Chisa and lingering influences from her club past.
