Description
Matsunaga Hisahide is a supporting character in Ninja Girl & Samurai Master 2nd, based on the historical daimyo of Yamato Province. In the series, he is introduced as a cunning and dangerous old warlord who rules Yamato independently. He is initially unresponsive to Oda Nobunaga’s letters, prompting Nobunaga to send his ninja Chidori to infiltrate Hisahide’s territory and assess his intentions. Hisahide is known for his ruthless and scheming nature; his past includes three so-called perverse acts that concern Akechi Mitsuhide. Despite his reputation, Hisahide ultimately chooses to submit to Nobunaga rather than face destruction, and Nobunaga allows him to continue governing Yamato as a vassal. Hisahide’s motivations center on preserving his own power and autonomy, and he is willing to switch allegiances when it benefits him. His relationship with Nobunaga is one of wary submission—he bends the knee but remains a potentially treacherous figure. His interaction with Chidori highlights his cautious and secretive disposition, as he is not easily fooled. Hisahide’s notable abilities lie in his political cunning, strategic maneuvering, and his background as a tea master, though the latter is alluded to rather than prominently shown in the anime. Over the course of the story, his role evolves from an adversary to a reluctant servant of the Oda clan, though his loyalty is never fully trusted.
