Description
Pneumococcus, scientifically identified as *Streptococcus pneumoniae*, manifests as a Gram-positive bacterial pathogen invading the human body. He appears as a tall, skeletal figure encased in distinctive purple armor, featuring insectoid limbs reminiscent of a grasshopper, bird-like talon hands, and numerous bladed tentacles sprouting from his back, while his face remains exposed in white and gray tones.
This bacterium launches aggressive, destructive assaults on cells, causing diseases like pneumonia and meningitis. A specific individual exhibits pronounced traits: he becomes easily lost, mirroring red blood cell AE3803, and flares with anger when ignored, exemplified by AE3803 shutting a door on him during a map room encounter. This same Pneumococcus employs strategic cunning, such as hiding inside a transport box to reach the lungs undetected. During combat, he demands honorable battle, criticizing neutrophil U-1146 for perceived underhanded tactics despite personally utilizing escape methods like bacterial nets and smokescreens.
His initial infiltration targets the lungs, but neutrophils intercept and eliminate most of his group. Separated, he enters a map room to reorient, coincidentally confronting AE3803. Her retreat from their standoff triggers his furious pursuit. He later ambushes AE3803 in the lungs after smuggling himself inside her cargo, acknowledging her unwitting assistance. U-1146 intervenes but struggles against his protective capsule. U-1146 ultimately lures him into the respiratory tract, where he is expelled violently via a sneeze. In a subsequent incident ("Scrape Wound"), another Pneumococcus collaborates with *Staphylococcus aureus*, identifying the defeated individual as his elder brother. All invading bacteria in this event are eliminated by platelets sealing the wound with fibrin nets.
His capabilities include rapid multiplication, enabling a full-body invasion within 24 hours if unchecked. Primary defenses are a polysaccharide cell capsule resisting phagocytosis and immune detection, plus bladed tentacles for combat. Supplementary abilities involve generating adhesive nets to immobilize opponents and deploying smokescreens to facilitate escapes, aligning with the real-world virulence mechanisms of *Streptococcus pneumoniae*.
