Description
Hikari Onozuka is a supporting character who appears from the second season onward as a part-time coworker and senior to Aoi Yukimura at the cake shop Susuki. At the time of her introduction, she is a 20-year-old college sophomore who stands 156 centimeters tall. She is currently studying German as her second foreign language while balancing her university life with her job at the pastry shop.

In terms of personality, Hikari is defined by her bright, energetic, and socially outgoing nature. She is almost always seen with a warm, cheerful smile and speaks with a distinctive verbal tic, often ending her sentences with ~ssu. Her vibrant and friendly demeanor can sometimes lead people who do not know her well, such as Aoi upon their first meeting, to mistakenly perceive her as a gyaru or a lighthearted, carefree person. However, this initial impression is misleading, as she is in fact a deeply caring, reliable, and generous individual. She is always ready to lend a hand, particularly to her newer, more shy coworkers like Aoi. Her nature is also notably romantic; she has a strong interest in love and relationships, frequently bringing up romantic topics and teasing her friends about their love lives. This trait often leads to comedic misunderstandings, such as when she mistakenly interprets a request for advice from Aoi as a romantic dilemma and suggests a night climb as a date, or when she assumes Aoi's friend Honoka Kurosaki is her girlfriend based solely on Honoka's appearance.

Hikari's primary role in the story is to act as a mentor, friend, and source of casual advice for Aoi during their shared shifts at the cake shop. She takes it upon herself to help the shy Aoi adjust to the social environment of the workplace, effectively guiding her and helping her become more comfortable. The most significant moment highlighting their friendship occurs in the second season when the shop owner, Sue, injures his back, forcing a closure for the day. Hikari takes this opportunity to invite Aoi on a trip to Naguri Lake by Arima Dam. During this outing, Hikari shows Aoi her everyday clothes, rents a couples canoe, and presents a homemade lunch filled with heart-shaped food. It is only at the end of the day that she confesses the trip was originally planned as a date, but her partner canceled at the last minute. She calls it a heartbreak trip and rests her head on Aoi's lap, revealing her vulnerability and using the time in nature and with a companion to help her heal. This event showcases a key aspect of her motivation: a desire for connection and a healthy, proactive way of coping with disappointment by seeking out beautiful scenery and the company of a friend.

Her key relationships are centered on the cake shop. Her most developed relationship is with Aoi Yukimura, whom she supports as a senior and friend. She also has a friendly and professional relationship with Sue, the shop owner, though her nature can sometimes surprise him, such as when she generously gives Aoi three whole boxes of sweets, an act that shocks her boss. While Hikari does not undergo a dramatic character arc herself, her role is to support the development of others, particularly Aoi. By providing a steady, friendly presence and opportunities for casual social interaction, she helps Aoi build confidence outside of her main friend group. Hikari's own moments of vulnerability, like sharing her heartbreak with Aoi, also serve to demonstrate Aoi's own growing emotional maturity and ability to be a supportive friend to others. Her notable abilities include her strong social competence and talent for integrating newcomers into a team. She is also shown to be athletic and willing to try new activities, as seen when she confidently leads a canoe trip across a lake. Her generosity is another defining trait, sometimes exceeding the expectations of her employer.
