Description
Fate T. Harlaown began existence as an artificial human created through Project Fate, cloned from Alicia Testarossa by her mother Precia Testarossa following Alicia's death. Initially named Fate Testarossa, she suffered severe physical and emotional abuse under Precia while being manipulated into collecting dangerous Jewel Seeds during her childhood. This established her as a rival to Nanoha Takamachi, though their confrontations ultimately led Fate to question her mother's motives.

A critical turning point arrived when Precia revealed Fate's artificial origins and rejected her as a failed replacement for Alicia. This revelation shattered Fate emotionally, but support from her familiar Arf and Nanoha's steadfast friendship empowered her to confront Precia. After Precia's death, the Time-Space Administration Bureau (TSAB) took Fate into custody. She was later adopted by Admiral Lindy Harlaown, changing her name to Fate T. Harlaown and gaining Chrono Harlaown as an adoptive brother, marking the start of her life within a supportive family.

Her TSAB career evolved significantly. Starting as a temporary contract mage during the Book of Darkness Incident, she partnered with Nanoha to resolve the crisis. She undertook intensive combat training with Chrono to overcome limitations from her initial magical education, which prioritized speed over versatility. Her combat style solidified as a "Fragile Speedster," specializing in lightning-based magic and high-velocity aerial combat. Her signature device, Bardiche, received cartridge-based upgrades to enhance its power. By her teenage years, she achieved the rank of S+ air combat mage and became an elite Enforcer—a top TSAB investigator and field operative. She later served as Forward Lightning Commander in Riot Force 6 and joined Special Duty Section 6 to investigate the Eclipse Incident, operating under callsigns "Lightning 01" and "Riot 1."

Her personal life expanded through forming familial bonds beyond her adoption. She became guardian and mentor to Erio Mondial, a clone created using Project Fate technology, and Caro Ru Lushe, a summoner ostracized by her tribe. She also became a co-parent to Vivio Takamachi alongside Nanoha, forming a household known as the Takamachi family. This role as a protective and nurturing figure contrasted sharply with her own abusive past, reflecting her commitment to shielding other children from similar pain. Her partnership with Nanoha deepened into a lifelong romantic relationship, confirmed as canonical across later media.

In *Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection*, set two years after *A's*, Fate appeared as an established TSAB investigator. She confronted antagonists Amitie and Kyrie Florian, who sought the Tome of the Night Sky artifact. During battles, her vulnerability surfaced when Kyrie overpowered her, prompting Nanoha's defensive intervention. Fate participated in extended combat, including a confrontation against Iris and Maxwell. The film placed her within ongoing conflicts leading directly into the sequel *Detonation*, where she continued engaging threats alongside allies.

Her personality consistently blended seriousness and emotional reserve with profound loyalty and protectiveness. Early coldness toward Nanoha gave way to deep kindness and empathy, especially towards children in distress. She frequently questioned her self-worth due to her artificial origins but ultimately affirmed her identity as an individual distinct from Alicia. Shyness and occasional social awkwardness persisted into adulthood, contrasting her formidable combat reputation as the "Golden Flash" and "Ace of the Navy."
