Description
Éléonore Albertine le Blanc de la Blois de la Vallière is the eldest daughter of Duke Sandorion de la Vallière and Karin de la Vallière, positioning her as the older sister of Cattleya and Louise de la Vallière. She inherits her father’s blonde hair and stern disposition, displaying a stricter demeanor than her mother and a notably short temper—especially toward her youngest sister Louise, whose frequent explosive magical failures led Éléonore to deem her incompetent. This perception caused Éléonore to label Louise a "zero," a view shared by most of their family, excluding Cattleya.
Her background includes a canceled engagement to the Count of Burgundy, after which she remained unmarried despite societal expectations. Professionally, she served as a professor at the Oriz Academy of Magic and was later assigned by Queen Henrietta de Tristain to teach battle magic temporarily at Tristain Academy of Magic. As a Triangle-class mage, she wielded significant magical proficiency.
Éléonore actively intervened in Louise’s life, attempting to arrange marriages with suitable noblemen to uphold aristocratic conventions. She vehemently opposed Louise’s relationship with Saito Hiraga, a commoner summoned as Louise’s familiar, due to his plebeian status. This disapproval manifested in verbal rebukes—such as forbidding Saito from addressing her as "sister"—and physical aggression, including whipping him after accidental intrusions into her private space. Her hostility toward Saito remained consistent.
Beneath her harsh exterior, Éléonore harbored deep concern for Louise’s safety. Upon learning of Louise’s plan to join a war, she imprisoned her sister to prevent her from endangering herself. During an invasion of Tristain Academy, Éléonore volunteered as a replacement hostage to secure others’ release, risking her own life. She later traveled to Des Ornières to retrieve Louise after discovering her cohabitation with Saito, citing noble propriety. However, she relented after negotiating terms allowing Louise time to train Saito as a noble.
Éléonore attended Louise and Saito’s wedding. Though initially appearing displeased, she ultimately smiled in approval, signaling acceptance of their union and a softening of her rigid principles regarding nobility and familial expectations.
