Description
Akihito Kanbara is a 16-year-old, 171 cm tall second-year student at Nagatsuki High School with blood type A, born on October 7th. He serves as vice-president of the Literary Club. Born a Half-Youmu to a human mother and youmu father, his unique physiology grants him potent regenerative healing abilities. This regeneration causes him significant pain and led to childhood social isolation, particularly after surviving a car accident without visible injury.

Akihito exhibits a playful, friendly, sarcastic yet sincere personality, coupled with a self-professed obsession for girls who wear glasses, identifying as a "meganest." This fixation shapes his interactions, such as frequently complimenting Mirai Kuriyama as a "bespectacled beauty." His youmu heritage harbors a dormant entity, "Beyond the Boundary," which emerges under severe injury or weakness. This transformation turns him feral and destructive, wielding pyrokinesis, geokinesis, electrokinesis (manifested as green-electric fists), immense strength, and resistance to spirit warrior seals. His first transformation nearly killed Hiroomi Nase, leading the Nase family to monitor him.

His life changes upon meeting Mirai Kuriyama, whom he prevents from suicide. Despite her initial attacks stemming from her insecurities as a Spirit World Warrior, they develop a deep bond. Akihito supports her, helping her overcome fears and join the Literary Club. During the "Calm" phenomenon, his youmu side resurfaces. Mirai, tasked with eliminating him, absorbs "Beyond the Boundary" to save him, plunging Akihito into a three-month coma. Awakening, he enters a pocket dimension to help Mirai defeat the entity, after which she confesses her love and vanishes.

Mirai later returns alive but amnesiac. Akihito chooses silence about their past to protect her chance at a normal life, supporting her memory recovery. When darkness consumes her, he confronts her despair, reaffirms his feelings, confesses his love, stating he cherishes her "without glasses as well." They ultimately form a romantic partnership, with Mirai identified as his girlfriend.

In the spin-off "Idol Trial!," Akihito appears as a defendant in dream-based trials overseen by chibi-fied female characters. Charged with "being gross" due to his glasses obsession, the comedic trials conclude within his own dream.

Akihito's human form retains enhanced strength, capable of single-handedly blocking attacks. His relationships include a close, teasing friendship with Hiroomi Nase (his post-rampage monitor) and Mitsuki Nase, alongside maternal ties to Yayoi Kanbara, an eccentric spirit warrior. His development focuses on accepting his dual nature, protecting loved ones, and reciprocating Mirai's love despite their traumas.
