Description
Hiroomi Nase is the eldest son of the prestigious Nase family, Spirit World Warriors dedicated to combating supernatural entities called youmu. Initially appearing as a third-year high school student and Literary Club member alongside his sister Mitsuki and friend Akihito Kanbara, he has short black hair in a bowl-cut style, green eyes, and stands 178 cm tall. His supernatural abilities cause extreme sensitivity to cold, forcing him to constantly wear a scarf or muffler for warmth.
His powers focus on creating Glaciate Barriers, a Nase family trait used to contain or repel youmu. He also wields a specialized scarf that disintegrates youmu on contact, functioning as both defense and offense; its power is directly tied to his vulnerability to cold.
Three years prior, Hiroomi received a mission from his older sister Izumi, then-head of the Nase clan, to capture or eliminate Akihito Kanbara due to the dangerous youmu within him. During this mission, Miroku Fujima intervened, critically injuring Akihito and triggering his youmu transformation. The rampaging youmu nearly killed Hiroomi, leaving severe scars on his back. Despite this trauma, Hiroomi later forged a close friendship with Akihito, frequently teasing him and affectionately calling him "Akkey".
Hiroomi shares a complex relationship with his younger sister Mitsuki. They often bicker, but he harbors deep affection for her, displaying a noticeable sister complex especially when she uses honorifics like "Onii-chan." His phone ringtone features Mitsuki declaring "Onii-chan, I love you." He prioritizes protecting her from harm, sometimes withholding information to avoid causing her worry.
His dynamic with Izumi evolves significantly. Initially respecting her as clan leader, he later renounces her methods after discovering her true nature: Izumi harbored a parasitic youmu within herself, a secret maintained to protect her family. When this truth surfaced during a confrontation with Miroku Fujima, Hiroomi witnessed Izumi's youmu form and publicly rejected her ideals, declaring he wanted to be nothing like her. Following Izumi's disappearance, Hiroomi assumed leadership of the Nase household.
In the events of the Mirai-hen film, Hiroomi confronts Izumi as a hooded antagonist attacking Spirit World Warriors under the youmu's influence. Ayaka Shindou notes his reluctance to harm Izumi due to lingering familial love. During their final confrontation, he expresses regret for not supporting her earlier and emphasizes his desire to walk alongside her rather than chase her. This reconciliation allows Izumi to overcome the youmu's control. While physically recovered by the film's conclusion, Izumi's formal clan role remains unclear, leaving Hiroomi functionally leading Nase family duties.
