Description
Tamao Kurei attends school alongside Mahiro Yasaka, Nyaruko, Kuuko, and Hasuta. She possesses brown hair and eyes, typically wearing her hair in a single ponytail tied with a yellow bow; when loose, it falls to nape length. Her bangs frame her face, featuring two strands reaching eye level and two extending to her neck. She dresses in the standard school uniform: a light blue jacket with white accents, a pink necktie, a brown checkered skirt, and knee-length socks.

An active member of the Newspaper Club, Tamao constantly seeks and spreads information, earning her the nickname "The Walking Speaker" due to her talkative nature and rapid gossip dissemination. Characterized as easygoing and fun, she often inserts herself into situations to gather scoops, sometimes irritating others. While portrayed as one of the more "normal" human characters, she provides emotional support, particularly advising Nyaruko on pursuing Mahiro.

Tamao harbors personal feelings for Mahiro but consciously suppresses them, believing she cannot compete with Nyaruko. She channels this unrequited affection into supporting Nyaruko's romantic efforts, frequently offering encouragement when Nyaruko feels discouraged. Her internal conflicts about Mahiro occasionally surface during private moments or self-confessions.

Typically human without inherent supernatural abilities, Tamao temporarily gains enhanced physical strength and capabilities when possessed by an alien entity, granting power significantly exceeding ordinary human limits. Her primary skills involve social dynamics, including adept information gathering and providing motivational support to friends.

Her surname "Kurei" (暮井) combines the characters for "dusk, living" and "well, mine shaft, pit," while her given name "Tamao" (珠緒) derives from "bead, pearl, gem, jewel" and "thread."
