TV Special
Description
Kouen, known as Enma Daiō, reigns as the young king of the Yo-kai World, inheriting the throne after his grandfather Ancient Enma's passing. Governing from Enma Palace, he commands all Yo-kai but pursues policies markedly different from his predecessor's strict rule.
Fascinated by the human world, Enma actively champions friendship between humans and Yo-kai, a vision often clashing with traditionalists like Zazel. His curiosity drives him to frequently visit the human world disguised in a human form with tanned skin and black hair, observing interactions firsthand. During one visit, Nate Adams saved him from falling construction pipes, solidifying his faith in humanity.
Significant conflict erupted when council head Zazel opposed Enma's policies and orchestrated a coup. Zazel sealed Enma under false pretenses of illness and spread propaganda about human corruption. Nate and his allies later freed Enma using a special Yo-kai Medal. Confronting Zazel, Enma displayed formidable power and forgiveness, ultimately convincing his foe to embrace coexistence. This alliance birthed new laws encouraging integration between the worlds.
His leadership includes overseeing major events like Halloween contests where Yo-kai earn points through tricks. He intervenes in crises, such as when his toothache from overindulging in human treats like Jibanyan's chocobars and Komasan's ice cream caused their disappearance. This incident unveiled a larger conspiracy threatening the Yo-kai World, requiring Jibanyan and Komasan to resolve it.
In battle, he wields the hellfire-enveloped Enma Blade, drastically increasing his strength—a form classified Rank SS in games like *Yo-kai Watch: Wibble Wobble*. Artifacts like the Valiant Bracelet or Virtuous Bracelet allow him to shift combat roles. His signature abilities include "Enma Orb" and "Hellish Enma Blade," unleashing devastating slashes across formations.
Key relationships define him: he considers Nate a trusted friend forged through shared battles, though he initially exploited their friendship to bypass Enma Note rules. Zazel evolved from adversary to closest advisor, embodying Enma's belief in redemption. He shares a bond with his uncle, Lucas Schiffer, though they met only during the Enma Note quest.
Enma's dual nature—benevolent yet capable of wrath—surfaces when loved ones are threatened. Mistakenly believing Zazel dead, he unleashed new powers and nearly killed Umbral Enma. This intensity underscores his complex role balancing compassion with justice.
