Yata, also known as Beauty, is a talking crow originating from the Chinese Peninsula. Its form features pitch-black feathers contrasted by light-colored feet and talons. Typically obscured by a dark hood and scarf, Yata's eyes remain hidden, though its left eye sometimes ignites into an open flame reminiscent of an Infernal's gaze. Personality-wise, Yata operates with pragmatic logic, often expressing confusion or skepticism toward unfamiliar behaviors like Shinra Kusakabe's ignition abilities. Despite this, it possesses knowledge of Tokyo Empire culture and acts as the level-headed counterpart to its companion, Schop. Yata frequently avoids stating obvious facts, deeming them redundant, yet demonstrates responsibility by chastising Schop for stealing human food. Gifted by the Black Lady, Yata possesses extended longevity beyond that of an ordinary crow and mastery of human speech. It also wields fire capable of cutting solid rock, a power utilized during encounters with the Fire Force. Within the narrative, Yata first appears after the Fire Force defeats a large worm monster en route to a "tear in space." Alongside Schop, it agrees to guide Shinra Kusakabe's team to the Oasis, warning them of a dangerous local group. During the journey, Yata accompanies Shinra and Ogun Montgomery to observe ancient nocturnal Infernals, advising against immediate action due to environmental hazards. The next day, it leads the group to the Oasis outskirts and reveals the Tabernacle—an ancient, Amaterasu-like structure revered as a deity by local animals. Yata perishes during the Great Cataclysm. However, Shinra Kusakabe's manipulation of time reverses the catastrophe and rearranges reality, restoring Yata to existence in the reconstructed world.
