Rafael Escalante is a Mexican actor and voiceover artist born on August 19, 1990, recognized for his work in Latin American Spanish dubbing for anime, films, and television series. He is a graduate of the SIGE Produciendo school, where he studied under the guidance of esteemed actor Esteban Siller. His preparation for a career in dubbing also included training with actor Daniel Abundis and choreographer Ángela Kruyff at the University of Cuautitlán Izcalli, as well as a course on spoken and acted voice with actor Javier Rivero, who recommended him to SIGE Produciendo. After an initial period of auditioning and a brief hiatus from the industry, he was invited by Lalo Garza to resume auditioning, which led to his first professional dubbing call in 2013 for minor roles in the anime series Dancing with Vampires.

Escalante has built a extensive career in anime dubbing, lending his voice to a wide array of characters. He is known for his work in several major series, including his role as Porco Galliard in Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 2. He voiced Yāta in Fire Force, Merthophan in Suppose a Kid From the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town, Riku Momosaki in the water polo sports anime RE-MAIN, and Taiga in Tribe Nine. Another prominent role is that of Itoshi Sae in the popular soccer anime Blue Lock, a character he discussed in a press conference for the series' second season, noting the character's philosophy and the challenge of portraying his arrogant demeanor. His other anime credits include Roy Mustang in the Funimation version of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Jellal Fernandes in Fairy Tail, Rei Mikazuchi in Kengan Ashura, and Kiyoka Kudō in My Happy Marriage.

Beyond anime, Escalante has contributed to numerous film and television projects. In animation, he has voiced characters such as Atlas in Perros en el espacio and provided additional voices for series like El ascenso de las Tortugas Ninja. His live-action dubbing work is extensive, including roles in films such as Elvis, where he dubbed Jerry Schilling, Belfast, and Anaconda: El despertar. In television series, he is part of the dubbing cast for shows like Operativo: Lioness, Sombra y hueso, and provided the third voice for Timothy McGee in NCIS: Criminología Naval.

A notable aspect of Escalante's career is his association with the character Katsuki Bakugo from My Hero Academia. He voiced Bakugo in the first two films, My Hero Academia: Two Heroes and My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising. For the main anime series and subsequent films, the role was taken over by another actor, Rómulo Bernal. Escalante's portrayal in the films remains a key part of his filmography. His body of work reflects a consistent presence in the Mexican dubbing industry, spanning both animated and live-action productions across various genres.
