Description
Kurumi Mimino, alias Milk and Milky Rose, hails from the Palmier Kingdom as a pale pink lop-eared rabbit fairy. She serves as a strict, no-nonsense caretaker for princes Coco and Nats, experiencing significant anxiety when separated from them. Milk frequently appends "~miru" to her sentences and initially exhibits selfish, greedy tendencies, especially towards humans. Her relationship with Cure Dream (Nozomi Yumehara) is contentious, marked by criticism of Nozomi's leadership and jealousy over Coco's attention; despite sharing childish traits, they eventually forge a genuine friendship.
In the sequel season, following the Palmier Kingdom's attack by Eternal, Milk discovers a glowing blue seed. Planting it grants her the ability to transform into human teenager Mimino Kurumi and later assume the alter ego Milky Rose. The name "Mimino Kurumi" functions as a pun, reversing phonetically to "Miruku no Mimi" (Milk's ears). As Kurumi, she enrolls as a second-year transfer student at L'École des Cinq Lumières, attending classes with Nozomi and Rin. Her core personality persists in human form, though she displays increased maturity and selflessness.
Milky Rose debuts as a Pretty Cure ally in episode 10 of the sequel. Her transformation, activated by "Skyrose Translate!", utilizes the Milky Palette device. She introduces herself declaring: "The blue rose is my secret emblem! Milky Rose!" (青いバラは秘密のしるし!ミルキィローズ!). Her powers, drawn from the Blue Rose of Miracles, center on wind and snow. Primary attacks are "Milky Rose Blizzard", engulfing foes in a rose-petal blizzard, and the enhanced "Milky Rose Metal Blizzard" achieved using the Milky Note and Milky Mirror. Maintaining this form drains energy, sometimes reverting her to fairy state.
Kurumi's design varies across media. Fairy Milk wears a light red headbow and a neck ribbon with a gold medallion. Human Kurumi sports wavy purple hair tied with ribbons; her outfits include a pale pink dress with a blue rose motif casually and a violet blouse with pink vest in the film *Okashi no Kuni no Happy Birthday*. As Milky Rose, her hair extends to her waist in pigtails, adorned by a vine-like headdress featuring a blue rose centerpiece. Her battle attire comprises a white corset-top, ruffled skirt, and lilac boots. An upgraded "Rainbow Milky Rose" form in *Pretty Cure All Stars DX2* adds golden wings and an elongated skirt.
Her development traces a shift from exclusivity with Coco and Nats towards trusting the Pretty Cure team. Early storylines show her causing unintended problems like failed missions or arguments. A turning point occurs when Cure Aqua (Karen Minazuki) sacrifices herself for Milk, fostering mutual admiration and a protective bond. By the sequel, she actively supports the team, participating in combination attacks like "Floral Explosion" and demonstrating loyalty beyond caretaker duties. Her name's etymology ties to teatime: "Milk" complements fellow fairies "Coco" and "Nats" (nuts), collectively forming "coconut milk".
