Description
Tatiana "Tanya" Vishneva, a Russian piano student and senior at Paris’s Conservatoire, shares a Parisian apartment with peers like Chiaki and Nodame. Plagued by self-doubt from her mediocre skills, she fixates on securing a stable partner in France to avoid returning to her Russian hometown, where her musical ambitions were mocked and opportunities seemed bleak.

Though spurred by friends Nodame and Yun Long to practice seriously, early competition failures reinforce her insecurities. A joint loss with Yun Long at a concours hardens her resolve to stay in France. The arrival of Rima, a Japanese pianist lodging temporarily in their building, ignites jealousy as Tanya views her as a rival for Yasunori Kuroki, an aloof oboist she admires.

Initially clashing with Kuroki—dubbing him "C'est glauque" for his brooding demeanor—Tanya gradually forges a bond with him. After confronting misunderstandings over his rapport with Rima, she reluctantly offers Rima shelter, balancing generosity with lingering envy. Her persistence earns her a role as Kuroki’s accompanist, strengthening their connection. Eventually, she accepts his marriage proposal, anchoring her future in both partnership and music.

Tanya’s journey shifts from seeking security through romance to embracing artistic growth and vulnerability. Confronting professional setbacks and personal rivalries, she channels her fears into determination, finding stability through dedication to her craft and a deepened relationship with Kuroki.
