TV Special
Description
The Eevee featured in Mewtwo ~Kakusei e no Prologue~ is a Pokémon owned by Virgil, a skilled trainer and the leader of a Pokémon Rescue Team. This Eevee holds a unique position within Virgil’s team. While Virgil has raised several other Eevees that have evolved into their various final forms, this particular Eevee has remained unevolved. Virgil himself is uncertain about which evolutionary path this Eevee should eventually take, which distinguishes it from the rest of his team who have already "graduated" to their evolved states.
Throughout the special, this Eevee demonstrates a dependable and courageous personality. Despite being in its basic form compared to its evolved teammates like Vaporeon, Leafeon, Espeon, and Umbreon, it actively participates in all rescue operations and proves its value without hesitation. Its primary motivation is to assist its trainer and work alongside its fellow team members to help Pokémon in need. This sense of duty is evident when Virgil’s helicopter makes an emergency landing in the mountains, and Eevee immediately joins the subsequent mission to locate and assist an injured Mewtwo.
Its role in the story is that of a dedicated and capable member of Virgil’s team. Eevee takes part in the search for Mewtwo, coordinating with other evolved Eeveelutions and even wild Pokémon summoned by a girl named Anna. During the mission, it shows its willingness to help a legendary Pokémon that is deeply distrustful of humans, approaching Mewtwo alongside an Espeon and a Stoutland to offer a Revival Herb. Although Mewtwo refuses the aid, Eevee’s actions highlight its compassionate and brave nature.
The Eevee’s most important relationships are with its trainer, Virgil, and its fellow team members. The bond of trust and cooperation within the team is strong, allowing them to execute complex rescue strategies. For instance, Eevee successfully dug a hole as part of a plan to stop a Cryogonal from attacking a dam, showcasing its practical abilities and teamwork. It also interacts positively with others outside the team, such as when the character Bianca gives it a Casteliacone.
While the Eevee does not undergo a significant personal transformation or evolution in the special, its presence serves to emphasize a key theme of the story: that strength and value are not solely determined by a Pokémon’s form or power. It contributes meaningfully to the rescue efforts despite being unevolved, working alongside its more powerful evolved counterparts to achieve their goals. Its notable abilities include digging, general agility, and a strong instinct for cooperation and coordination with other Pokémon in high-pressure situations.
