Description
Fū Sawatari, affectionately nicknamed "Potte" for the sound she makes when walking nervously, anchors her series across multiple installments. Deeply passionate about photography, her initial inspiration came from her late father, who passed away roughly five years before the main story. His death led her to retreat from emotional connections until her younger brother, Kou, rediscovered their father's old photographs, rekindling her love for the craft. She inherited his cherished Rollei 35S film camera, her primary tool for creative expression.

Her family moved to the coastal town of Takehara in Hiroshima, her father's childhood home, marking her return after years away. There, she entered high school and formed close bonds with childhood friend Kaoru Hanawa, Maon Sakurada, and Norie Okazaki. Fū is characterized as curious, cheerful, and eccentric, but notably clumsy—she often trips or stumbles while trying to take pictures. She habitually adds "na no de" to her sentences.

Through her lens, Fū seeks to capture elusive light phenomena she calls "tamayura," representing moments of joy or serendipity. She also enjoys photographing a local cat, Momoneko. Her approach prioritizes emotional intent over technical perfection, shaped by her father's belief that even flawed or "failed" photos hold value if they preserve meaning. This is embodied in a treasured, technically imperfect backlit photo she took of her father; though initially disappointed, she came to cherish it as a captured moment of happiness.

In her second year, she established a photography club, joined by the interested upperclassman Kanae Mitani. During her third and final year, new members Takumi Shindō and Suzune Maekawa joined. As graduation neared, Fū contemplated her future, considering photography as a career. Uncertainty arose when her mentor, professional photographer Riho Shihomi, announced plans to leave Takehara for Tokyo. Riho had profoundly influenced Fū's journey, offering early encouragement—symbolized by a train ticket with no destination—and guidance. Their heartfelt talks helped Fū recognize her own resilience and readiness to pursue photography independently, reinforcing her belief in the medium's power to connect people and preserve cherished perspectives.

Throughout her development, Fū evolved from a shy, grieving girl into a more confident individual who values imperfection as part of life's beauty. She learned to embrace both successes and setbacks as integral to growth and treasured memories. Her relationships, especially with friends and family, provided steadfast support as she navigated personal challenges and solidified her path forward with quiet determination.
