Hamaji is the half-sister of Inuyama Dōsetsu Tadatomo, one of the eight dog warriors. They share the same father, who had multiple concubines. Jealousy over her inability to bear a male heir drove Hamaji's biological mother to assassinate Dōsetsu's mother. This familial conflict forms the core of their sibling relationship in the narrative.
