TV-Series
Description
Hibiki Tōdō is a high school student and a member of Callings, the most popular and top-ranked idol group in the world of Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream. Known as the cool-type member of the group, he is widely admired by fans and peers alike as a genius performer. Despite this public perception, Hibiki is a dedicated and hardworking individual who consistently practices alone in a secret location to refine his skills, a fact he keeps hidden from the public.
His personality is generally cool, calm, and collected, making him the person who can defuse heated situations and balance the more energetic and hot-blooded personalities of his fellow Callings members, Shou and Wataru. Beneath this composed exterior, however, lies a surprisingly romantic and teasing nature. He frequently flirts with Rizumu Amamiya, a young Prism Star, often causing her to blush, but his teasing is usually a way to make her smile, which he genuinely enjoys seeing. Hibiki is also deeply caring and provides gentle, sweet words of advice to Rizumu when she struggles, telling her that a smile is what best suits her. While he cares deeply for his younger sister, Kanon Toudou, who is also an idol, he often becomes exasperated with the rivalry between her and Rizumu.
Within the story, Hibiki initially appears mainly during Callings' performances, but his role expands significantly as he becomes a crucial source of support and romantic interest for Rizumu. Their relationship deepens when Rizumu discovers his secret practice spot, making it a private place where he shares his dedication and advice with her. This shared secret forms the foundation of their bond. A significant aspect of his background is his family; he is the older brother of Kanon Toudou, who is a rival to Rizumu, and he is originally from Kyoto, which is why he sometimes speaks with a Kansai dialect. He is also implied to be somewhat fearful of his younger sister's temperament.
Throughout the series, Hibiki shows notable development, particularly in his relationship with Rizumu. He moves from being a somewhat distant idol giving advice to becoming more open about his feelings, and by the end of Aurora Dream, they are essentially boyfriend and girlfriend. This relationship continues to evolve in the sequel, Dear My Future, where it is revealed that Hibiki and Rizumu have been secretly married for a year and a half, living apart to avoid upsetting fans. They eventually receive permission to publicly announce their marriage and hold a formal wedding ceremony, after which they are seen on their honeymoon.
In terms of abilities, Hibiki is a highly skilled Prism Show performer, a member of the premier idol group Callings, and is proficient in cooking. Physically, he has dark blue hair and light brown eyes; his hairstyle evolves from short in Aurora Dream to a longer, messier style in Dear My Future.
