Description
Yggdrasill is a half-elf chronologically exceeding 4,000 years, yet physically resembling a 14-year-old boy. His true identity is Mithos Yggdrasill, the legendary hero thought to have sacrificed himself to restore mana during the Ancient Kharlan War. As one of the Four Seraphim alongside his sister Martel, Yuan Ka-Fai, and Kratos Aurion, he fought to end the conflict but faced brutal discrimination against half-elves. This led to their expulsion from Heimdall and Martel’s death, an event that warped his ideals. His desire for peace mutated into a plan to erase discrimination by transforming all beings into identical "lifeless beings" using Cruxis Crystals—devices granting immortality and wings but eroding individuality over centuries.

He founded Cruxis and established the Church of Martel, ruling as its absolute sovereign under the alias "Yggdrasill" to project authority. Across millennia, he manipulated Sylvarant and Tethe’alla’s bloodlines to create Colette Brunel, a vessel matching Martel’s mana signature for resurrection. He orchestrated the Chosen’s pilgrimages to sustain the worlds’ mana imbalance, ensuring Sylvarant’s decline fueled Tethe’alla’s prosperity. This system let Cruxis control both societies through doctrine and periodic "Light of Judgment" enforcements.

During the story’s events, he infiltrated Lloyd Irving’s party disguised as his child form "Mithos," feigning injury to earn trust. He bonded closely with Genis Sage, gifting him panpipes and wrestling internally with his ideology amid the group’s camaraderie. His identity unraveled at the Tower of Salvation when he saved Genis but dropped the panpipes, sparking suspicion. After reviving Martel through Colette, her condemnation of his methods enraged him. He attacked the party and was defeated, his body dissolving into his Cruxis Crystal.

Surviving within the crystal, he attempted to possess Lloyd or Lloyd’s closest ally to reach Derris-Kharlan. His goal was to sever the comet from the world and forge a new domain solely for himself and Martel. Thwarted, he confronted the party a final time in his castle, aiming to annihilate the original world. Upon ultimate defeat, he expressed no remorse, vowing to repeat his actions given the chance. Lloyd destroyed his Cruxis Crystal, ending his existence.
