Sheena Fujibayashi, originating from the hidden ninja village of Mizuho in Tethe'alla, was adopted by the village chief after being found in the woods. She trained in the Igaguri ninja style, wielding paper seals and cards infused with elemental magic as weapons. Her combat style blends acrobatics, hand-to-hand techniques, and the manipulation of these seals for attacks, healing, or elemental enhancements. An Exsphere grants her low-level superhuman physical capabilities, enabling feats like surviving high falls or striking with enhanced force.
At age nine, she undertook a mission to form a pact with Volt, the Summon Spirit of Lightning, at his temple. Unable to comprehend Volt's refusal due to betrayal by a previous summoner, her attempt failed catastrophically. Volt's rampage killed a quarter of Mizuho's population and left her adoptive grandfather, the chief, in a coma. This event burdened her with profound guilt and a desire for redemption. During this period, she befriended Corrine, an artificial Summon Spirit created in experiments she participated in, who became her constant companion.
Years later, tasked by Tethe'alla's leadership to prevent Sylvarant's regeneration from causing Tethe'alla's decay, she infiltrated Sylvarant to assassinate its Chosen One, Colette Brunel. Initial encounters with Colette's group portrayed her as ineffective, earning her the moniker "Clumsy Assassin" after failures at Ossa Trail and Balacruf Mausoleum. During these skirmishes, she revealed her motive: protecting Tethe'alla. Her turning point occurred in the destroyed town of Luin, where she was injured defending citizens from Desian forces. Healed by Colette's party, she joined them to rescue survivors from Asgard Human Ranch, temporarily abandoning her assassination mission after witnessing Colette's kindness.
Her journey with the group involved forming pacts with Summon Spirits to sever mana links connecting Sylvarant and Tethe'alla. She conquered her fear by successfully forming her first true pact with Undine to save a unicorn. The most pivotal development occurred at the Temple of Lightning, where she confronted Volt again. When Volt attacked the party, Corrine sacrificed himself to save her. Motivated by Corrine's dying wish for her to restore Volt's faith in humanity, she forged a pact with Volt, overcoming her trauma and guilt. She subsequently formed pacts with all remaining Summon Spirits, including Gnome, Celsius, Efreet, Sylph, Shadow, Luna, and Aska, which were crucial for stabilizing the out-of-control Kharlan Tree.
In Mizuho, she faced Kuchinawa, a villager who blamed her for his parents' deaths in Volt's rampage. Their duel, arbitrated by Lloyd Irving, ended with her victory and Kuchinawa's exile. Later, she orchestrated protection for allies after Mithos's betrayal and expressed shock at Zelos Wilder's apparent betrayal at the Tower of Salvation. Following the fusion of the two worlds, she became Mizuho's chief, focusing on rebuilding and increasing the village's recognition.
Two years later, during events in *Dawn of the New World*, she aided Marta Lualdi in the Temple of Ice and investigated Lloyd Irving's alleged involvement in the Palmacosta massacre. After assisting in defeating Richter and the Vanguard, she reaffirmed bonds with Emil Castagnier and others. She later participated in the meeting with Martel at the new World Tree.
Notably, "Sheena Fujibayashi" is an alias, as Mizuho tradition considers real names sacred and restricts their knowledge to immediate family. Zelos Wilder frequently flirted with her, typically prompting violent rejections.
