TV-Series
Description
Hideyoshi Kinoshita is a second-year student at Fumizuki Academy, where he is a member of Class F, the lowest-ranked class based on academic performance. He is the fraternal twin brother of Yuuko Kinoshita, an honors student in the elite Class A. Despite being biologically male, Hideyoshi possesses a strikingly androgynous and beautiful appearance that causes nearly everyone he meets to mistake him for a girl. This confusion is so pervasive that a running joke within the school treats "Hideyoshi" as a distinct third gender, with separate changing rooms and even a differently colored gym uniform set aside just for him.
Hideyoshi typically maintains a calm and composed demeanor, possessing more common sense than most of his eccentric classmates in Class F. However, this stoic exterior can crack when his gender is misidentified, prompting him to promptly correct the misunderstanding. Despite his insistence that he is male, his feminine appearance makes him a subject of constant confusion, and he even receives love confessions from other boys several times a month. He is a dedicated member of the school's Drama Club, where his passion for acting often overshadows his academic responsibilities, contributing to his poor grades and placement in Class F. His commitment to the dramatic arts is genuine, and he possesses a remarkable talent for vocal mimicry, capable of flawlessly imitating both male and female voices. He often speaks using an old-fashioned, masculine dialect, referring to himself with terms like washi, an archaic pronoun used by elderly men.
Hideyoshi is a loyal and supportive friend, particularly to Akihisa Yoshii, whom he has known since their first year of school. He often acts as one of the more rational voices in the group, though he is not above participating in the class's various schemes and summoning battles to improve their circumstances. His key relationships include his close friendship with Akihisa, which is a source of comedic tension as Akihisa occasionally reacts to him with romantic interest, and his dynamic with his twin sister Yuuko, who has a more forceful personality and is one of the few people who physically disciplines him. Because of his appearance and close bond with Akihisa, both Minami Shimada and Mizuki Himeji regard him as a surprising rival for Akihisa's affections, despite his gender.
Throughout the series, Hideyoshi shows little significant development in his academic standing, but his relationships and his resigned acceptance of how others perceive him deepen. While he continues to clarify that he is male, the narrative often shows him blushing or becoming flustered when treated in a particularly feminine way, suggesting a complex but generally good-natured response to his unique situation. His role in the story is primarily as a core member of the Class F team, often providing support for his friends’ plans and contributing his acting skills and level-headedness to their often-absurd adventures.
In terms of abilities, Hideyoshi's most notable talents are his acting and voice mimicry, which have proven useful in battles and schemes. He is also surprisingly physically stronger than Akihisa. A running gag involves his exceptionally resilient digestive system, which he calls his steel stomach, capable of consuming almost anything; the only thing that defeats it is Mizuki Himeji's notoriously lethal homemade lunch. In the Summoner Test War system, Hideyoshi's summoned beast is a figure wearing a white kimono and blue hakama, traditional Japanese clothing, and wielding a naginata. This weapon choice is historically associated with female samurai, further reflecting the character's central motif. During system errors or special events, his summoned beast can transform into other forms, such as a gender-swapped adult version or a nekomata, a ghost cat girl.
