Description
Yuuji Sakamoto holds the position of class representative in Fumizuki Academy's lowest-ranked Class F. His strategic intellect is widely acknowledged, contrasting with his initial placement due to deliberately underperforming on entrance exams. This stemmed from his conviction that grades are not a measure of personal worth, despite previously demonstrating exceptional academic ability as an elementary school child prodigy, even surpassing his childhood friend Shouko Kirishima.

His tactical expertise drives Class F's strategies in the Summoner Test Wars. He employs complex plans involving psychological manipulation, traps, and inciting conflicts between higher-ranked classes to weaken opponents—methods often perceived as underhanded. After a tournament in volume 2, he gained a platinum bracelet allowing him to generate a summoning field, creating tactical choke points at the cost of points and temporarily disabling his own avatar summoning.

Shouko Kirishima significantly impacts his development. A loss to her in an elementary school history test triggered a fear of her obsessive marriage proposals, motivating him to resume studying to avoid such outcomes. His subsequent rapid improvement in test scores directly strengthened his punk-styled summoned avatar, equipped with brass knuckles. Though Yuuji publicly denies romantic feelings for Shouko, his summoned being inadvertently revealed his true emotions during a battle, indicating internal conflict between his fear of her intensity and underlying affection.

Yuuji exhibits a laid-back, sarcastic demeanor. He frequently exploits his best friend Akihisa Yoshii for comedic relief or tactical advantage, using him as a decoy or subjecting him to physical humor. Despite this tendency, he displays loyalty and protectiveness, intervening against insults directed at Shouko or bullying aimed at Akihisa. His moral ambiguity surfaces in manipulative battle tactics but is balanced by moments of compassion.

Throughout his academic journey, Yuuji evolves from deliberate underachievement to renewed engagement. By the light novel's conclusion (volume 12.5), he advances to Class 3-A and becomes president of the Disciplinary Council, signifying his reintegration into high academic standing and institutional responsibility.
