His novel "Sora ni Niteiru" (Looks Alike to the Sky), published under the feminine pen name "Miu Inoue," became a bestseller adapted into film and manga. The intense pressure caused severe stress, leading Konoha to withdraw socially and swear off writing permanently. This trauma deepened when Miu Asakura, a girl he loved, attempted suicide by jumping off a roof in front of him, though she survived.

Entering high school seeking normalcy, Konoha encountered Tohko Amano, who consumed literature by physically eating pages. After witnessing this, he was forcibly recruited into the Literature Club, where Tohko demanded daily written "snacks." Konoha presented a gentle, friendly facade to others but revealed his true self—deadpan, blunt, and disinterested—only to Tohko.
