Description
Abiru Kobushi is a pale, slender student in class 2-F, perpetually adorned with bandages. Her name, meaning "to bathe in fists," reflects the frequent injuries she sustains. Initial rumors of paternal abuse were disproven when her activities at a zoo came to light. Her wounds stem from animal attacks provoked by her obsessive tail fetish; she compulsively pulls animal tails for therapy and enjoyment. This compulsion drives her zoo employment, granting animal access but inevitably leading to retaliatory confrontations.

She has black shoulder-length hair, often in braids, and heterochromia iridum: her right eye is brown, while her left eye is obscured by bandages due to a corneal transplant. This transplanted eye grants her unusual vision, such as seeing the license plate of the vehicle that struck the donor. The extent of her eye bandages varies. Notably flexible hip joints allow poses like the wariza, though she dismisses such feats. Her personality is dry, stoic, and unfriendly, delivering blunt remarks dispassionately. Yet, she harbors intense enthusiasm for animals—specifically their tails—and deep admiration for her teacher, Nozomu Itoshiki. She admits to occasionally applying bandages without injuries to seek attention.

Her story unfolds across multiple arcs. She first appears when her tail fetish is revealed as the injury cause, leading her to try attaching a tail to Nozomu. Key developments include disclosing her corneal transplant, interacting with Nozomu's "Shadow Warrior" at a beach, and aiding in Nozomu's rescue using her bandages. Later, she kidnaps Mikoto Itoshiki as a "pet" before releasing him, and abducts multiple people's "tails." A pivotal moment occurs when her facial bandages break, offering a glimpse of her uncovered eye. Her dream involves traveling globally to pull every animal's tail, citing chipmunks, Bengal tigers, and green pythons as top favorites. She aspires to become a veterinarian, and the origin of her transplanted eye is revealed.

An extensive collection of mounted animal tails is stored at her home. She often deceives visitors by claiming these tails are replicas, blurring the line between reality and fabrication regarding her obsession.
