Aoi Todo is a third-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High and a Grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer. He achieved significant recognition despite his non-sorcerer family origins, stemming from his actions during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons in Kyoto where he single-handedly defeated five Grade 1 cursed spirits and one Special Grade cursed spirit, reserving his innate technique solely for the Special Grade. This accomplishment fueled rumors he defeated all six without any technique. He possesses a tall, heavily muscular build matching Satoru Gojo's height, tan skin, and shoulder-length black hair usually tied in a top-knot bun with distinctive flyaway strands. A prominent scar marks the left side of his face, a result of training with Yuki Tsukumo. Todo typically wears his Jujutsu High uniform jacket open or removed during combat, opting for martial arts pants, a bright blue sash, and slippers. Following the loss of his left hand to Mahito's Idle Transfiguration in the Shibuya Incident, he replaced it with a vibraslap to reactivate his technique. Eccentric and driven by confidence, Todo prioritizes excitement above boredom. He habitually asks new acquaintances about their preference in women, a practice originating from his first meeting with Yuki Tsukumo. Responses dictate his engagement: he dismissed Megumi Fushiguro as "boring" but instantly bonded with Yuji Itadori over shared preferences, fabricating memories of a lifelong friendship and declaring them "brothers." He idolizes pop star Takada-chan, mentally consulting her image during battles for strategic insight. While perceived by peers as a battle-obsessed brute—evidenced by widespread dislike at Kyoto High—he demonstrates sharp tactical intellect, analyzing opponents' patterns in 0.01 seconds and philosophically guiding Yuji on cursed energy flow, emphasizing the unity of mind, body, and soul. His combat abilities center on formidable physical prowess amplified by cursed energy. Specializing in close-quarters combat, he employs brutal strikes, stomps, and suplexes. His strength rivals Yuji Itadori's, enabling him to overpower Megumi Fushiguro and damage Special Grade curses like Hanami. Speed complements this strength, allowing rapid, unpredictable assaults. His innate technique, Boogie Woogie, swaps the positions of two cursed-energy-bearing targets via hand claps, retaining momentum during swaps to enable feints and strategic repositioning. Post-amputation, the vibraslap reactivated the technique, later enhancing it to 50 swaps per second and enabling tactical evacuations during Sukuna's domain expansions. He skillfully manipulates cursed energy for reinforcement, teaches its application, and has executed Black Flash. Key battles define his development. During the Goodwill Event, he mentored Yuji mid-fight against Hanami, refining Yuji's cursed energy control and enabling his first Black Flash. Their teamwork showcased Todo’s strategic use of Boogie Woogie and Playful Cloud, nearly defeating the curse. In the Shibuya Incident, he rescued Yuji from despair after allies' deaths, delivering the line: "The prosperous must fade—but we are the exception!" Against Mahito, he sacrificed his hand to save Yuji from Idle Transfiguration, later declaring "Boogie Woogie is dead" but persevering with one-handed tactics. He returned during the Shinjuku Showdown against Sukuna, using the vibraslap-enhanced Boogie Woogie to evacuate allies, disrupt Sukuna’s attacks, and support Yuji’s domain activation, playing a decisive role in cornering Sukuna.
