Description
Golden Darkness, formally named Eve, is an extraterrestrial assassin created as a transformation weapon by scientist Tearju Lunatique. Developed to be a weapon of mass destruction, Eden raised her, hardening her into a dispassionate and emotionally withdrawn killer. Her early life involved isolation and combat training, suppressing her innate capacity for warmth and connection, resulting in a cold, efficient persona focused solely on fulfilling assassination contracts.

Her trajectory shifts upon accepting a contract from Lacospo to eliminate Yuuki Rito. After observing Rito's genuine kindness and discovering Lacospo's deception about his nature, she breaks the contract and remains on Earth. Pretending to continue her mission, she instead integrates into daily life, forming bonds. Her initial stoicism and aversion to social interaction gradually soften as she experiences human connections, often reading books to understand emotions and Earth's culture. Her frequent declaration, "I despise perversion," leads her to violently retaliate against perceived obscene behavior, though this stance evolves.

Central to her is the Trans-ability, using nanomachines to transform any part of her body into weapons or tools like blades, projectiles, wings, or altered forms. Excessive use risks overheating the nanomachines, causing incapacitation. A significant weakness is a phobia of slimy substances, which can render her unconscious. Later, a hidden prototype program called "Darkness" activates, unlocking a more potent form. This state enhances her abilities to include matter manipulation, wormhole creation, and planetary-scale destruction, symbolized by horns, clawed gloves, and a revealing leather outfit. Crucially, due to her developing feelings for Rito, this form manifests not as universal destruction but as an obsessive, hyper-perverted personality fixated on "becoming one" with him through lethal intimacy. Overcoming this requires Rito deliberately acting perverse towards her, exploiting the program's unexpected flaw born from her affection.

Her relationships drive her growth. She develops a profound bond with Rito’s sister, Mikan Yuuki, her closest friend and advocate, who eventually convinces her to enroll at Sainan High School. Her dynamic with Rito evolves from lethal intent to conflicted affection. Moments like his offering taiyaki—her first Earth food and enduring favorite—symbolize this shift. She confides exclusively in him about her origins. Despite persistent denial of her feelings, she acknowledges her love for him after rescuing him from the assassin Kuro, marking a pivotal confession. Her creator, Tearju Lunatique, represents a painful past; Yami feels shame over her assassin identity, creating distance, though efforts by Rito and her genetic "sister" Mea Kurosaki facilitate reconciliation. Mea and Nemesis initially seek to revert Yami to a heartless weapon, but Mea ultimately supports her choice to remain on Earth, strengthening their familial ties.

Her arc culminates in embracing her emotions and rejecting her weaponized past. Resolving the "Darkness" program allows her to control the form without losing herself, signifying mastery over her destructive potential. Enrolling at Sainan High solidifies her commitment to a normal life, while her confession to Rito and continued bonds with Mikan, Tearju, and Mea underscore her transition from a solitary assassin to an individual capable of trust and love.
