Description
Shinnosuke Nohara, nicknamed Shin-chan, is a five-year-old kindergarten boy living in Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture. His appearance combines his mother's eyes with his father's eyebrows and hair color. He exhibits a complex personality marked by brutal honesty, extreme curiosity, and a near-total lack of shame. This frequently manifests in socially inappropriate behavior, such as pulling down his pants to perform the "buri buri" dance while singing original songs like "Buttock Alien".

His mischievous antics include dressing in animal costumes or engaging in drag. He commonly misuses language through malapropisms, such as saying "promotion" instead of "promise," and invents nonstandard greetings like "okonban gozaimasu". Despite his young age, he demonstrates unexpected proficiency in diverse physical activities like running, surfing, kendo, fishing, skiing, and swimming. He also shows talent in baseball, football, singing, and photography, the latter learned from his aunt Musae.

His interests include a strong attachment to the superhero Action Mask (Action Kamen), a love for chocolate corn biscuits ("Chocobi"), and a pronounced dislike for green peppers. He exhibits a tendency to flirt with older women using lines like "Do you like green peppers?" or "Hey, baby, you like onions?", a trait shared with his father and paternal grandfather, often resulting in punishment from his mother. He shows particular affection for Nanako Oohara, a college student, while expressing no interest in romantic attention from kindergarten-aged girls.

Family dynamics reveal a close bond with his mother, Misae, despite frequent teasing. He inherits her stubbornness and shares his father Hiroshi's attraction to women. He is protective of his younger sister, Himawari, often caring for her and bonding over shared mischief. He rescued the family dog, Shiro, from abandonment, though he sometimes neglects responsibilities like walking him.

His social circle includes the Kasukabe Defense Organization (KB) with friends Toru Kazama (whom he addresses by last name), Nene Sakurada, Masao Sato, and Bo Suzuki. His relationship with Kazama is particularly significant; despite frequent bickering, they share a deep, unspoken loyalty, evidenced by Kazama chasing Shin-chan's departing train when the Nohara family temporarily moved to Mexico.

In *Great Adventure in Henderland*, his character is tested when magical dolls Joma and Makao target his family. After initially refusing to help the enchanted doll Toppema Mappet, he accepts the mission to save his kidnapped parents. He wields magical playing cards entrusted to him, summoning allies like Action Mask, Kantam Robot, and his imaginary hero Buriburizaemon. He demonstrates courage and tactical ingenuity during confrontations, transforming into vehicles via the cards and outwitting antagonists through dance battles and card games. His actions ultimately free Prince Gorman and Princess Mimori (revealed as Toppema), restoring peace to Henderland.

Beneath his chaotic exterior, he occasionally displays unexpected maturity and selflessness. Examples include saving a frog from traffic despite ruining his clothes, giving money to a friend knowing it would incur his mother's wrath, arranging for a friend's estranged father to play ball with him, and showing genuine concern for family members during crises, such as his mother's hospital visit during her pregnancy with Himawari. These moments, though often immediately followed by renewed antics, indicate a latent kindness and emotional depth.
