Description
Shinnosuke Nohara, known as Shin-chan, is a five-year-old kindergarten boy exhibiting a paradoxical blend of childish antics and unexpected maturity. His appearance reflects his mother's eyes and his father's hair color. He possesses extreme curiosity, brutal honesty, and near-total shamelessness, frequently engaging in socially inappropriate behavior like pulling down his pants to perform his "buri buri" dance (also called "wiggly wiggly" or "super cute") while singing his original song "Buttock Alien." He prides himself on maintaining his buttocks' "shiny and nicely plump" appearance.
Despite his mischief, Shin-chan displays surprising competence in diverse activities such as running, surfing, kendo, fishing, skiing, swimming, baseball, football, and photography—a skill learned from his aunt Musae. His speech features frequent word mix-ups, replacing "promise" with "promotion," and using nonstandard pronouns like "ora" (a corruption of "ore") and "hoi" (a Dutch-derived corruption of "hai"). His writing contains misspellings and malformed characters. He idolizes the superhero "Action Mask," adores chocolate corn biscuits ("Chocobi"), and intensely dislikes green peppers.
Shin-chan's personality reflects his mother's stubbornness, lethargy, stinginess, and brazenness. Like his father, he openly flirts with older women using phrases like "Hey, baby, you like onions?" but shows no interest in girls his age. Beneath his chaotic exterior, he demonstrates profound kindness and protectiveness, such as rescuing a frog in the rain despite ruining his clothes, giving money to a friend anticipating punishment, and deeply caring for his family. He shares a close bond with his mother, frequently teasing her, and maintains a protective relationship with his younger sister Himawari, often bonding over mischief.
His loyalty extends to his pet dog, Shiro, whom he saved from the streets. This loyalty faces testing in the film *Crayon Shin-chan: Fierceness That Invites Storm! The Singing Buttocks Bomb* when an alien bomb capable of destroying Earth attaches to Shiro's rear end during the Nohara family's Okinawa trip. Shin-chan protects Shiro from two groups: the space-monitoring UNTI (Unidentified Nature Team Inspection), seeking to launch Shiro into space for safe detonation, and the female-led terrorist Hinageshi Opera Company ("Poppies" or "Amapola"), aiming to use the bomb for extortion. Amidst this three-way conflict, Shin-chan boards UNTI's rocket to rescue Shiro as it prepares for launch. The bomb detaches just in time, allowing both to escape unharmed before the rocket explodes in space, averting global catastrophe, underscoring Shin-chan's unwavering dedication.
